Iām not going to sugarcoat anything to make people feel comfortable, at the end of the day, I was a paying customer and if Iām giving you my hard earned money, I have the right to give my blunt honest opinion, whether it sits well with you or not thatās really not my problem.. Thatās for you to deal with personally ā¦.. I originally went into this salon to get my hair toned while my usual stylist was away on vacation. My hair had turned super blonde in some areas that I didnāt ask for originally, so I needed a correction. The owner of this salon told me she could tone it properly, so I agreed and sat in the chair while she applied the toner. She left the toner on for about an hour before sending me over to the washing station.
Thatās when things really started to go downhill. The woman who washed my hair clearly had no clue how to wash curly or textured hair. She was aggressively scrubbing my scalp, causing my hair to become painfully tangled. I had to politely ask for a brush just to detangle it myself which is something I shouldnāt have to do when Iām paying for professional service.
Then she walked me over to the blow drying station. I had requested a blowdry so I could see how the toner turned out. As she started drying my hair, it became very clear that she was inexperienced possibly still in cosmetology school. She looked about 18 or 19 and didnāt have any real confidence or skill with blow-drying thick, curly hair. One section of my hair turned frizzy and unmanageable. At that point, I stopped her mid-service and thanked her just to end the experience without causing a scene, even though I was furious inside.
I paid over $175 for this visit, and I honestly feel like I could have done a better job myself at home or even had my 7-year-old nephew help me and gotten a better result. The toner came out brassy and orange, which completely defeated the purpose of the visit. I ended up disputing the charges because the service was far below what I paid for.
I am Dominican. I have thick, coarse hair with a lot of body, density, and a naturally dry texture and this experience reminded me why I will never cheat on my original stylist again, even if theyāre on vacation, itās worth the wait instead of over paying for service that was horrible, Some people simply donāt know how to handle my kind of hair, and thatās okay but they shouldnāt charge high end prices for mediocre service they arenāt trained to deliverā¦
This salon didnāt align with my needs .. I wonāt be going back to this...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreDecided I wanted to do something different with my hair and chose this spot. I wanted to treat myself after salons being closed for so long. Not a good idea, I honestly feel robbed. Keep in mind this was my first professional salon experience where I went to color my hair and I was EXTREMELY disappointed. I showed a picture of what I wanted (3rd picture, I wanted the color and to go lighter, nothing crazy, was told it could be done as a partial balayage at the lower layer of hair and single process pull) and I left the salon after 3 hours and felt like literally NOTHING changed in my hair color other than like 6 added streaks of highlight. I paid $190 + tip to come out looking exactly the same. I don't really write reviews at all but I've never had such a disappointing experience before. I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt and wait a few days to see if MAYBE it would get lighter but it stayed the same. I didn't ask for anything extravagant. As a customer you want to feel amazing after leaving the salon and I just ended up feeling super stressed out because it was basically $200 down the drain. I'll be honest, the atmosphere was really nice my stylist was super sweet and great to talk to but I didn't get what I wanted in terms of my hair.
I reached out to them for a refund or some sort and they agreed that it didn't come out as expected, they weren't able to offer a refund but they did offer to redo it for free, but I declined because I really didn't want to be disappointed for a second time. It was never mentioned to me that I would have to maybe, possibly come back or that my hair wouldn't lighten in one sitting.
I took a gamble going the first time but I don't think I'll come back again, wouldn't recommend to anyone either.
First two pictures were after I got my hair done, third picture is what I asked for, last photo is what my hair looked like before my trip...
