I've read a bunch of reviews dating back years. It's truly embarrassing when I look at stamped replies by the owner Mike. We dealt with Ivan a real smooth talker. As we toured the store it was very clear that the furniture was simply cheap stuff. We purchased a table and 6 chairs, and an accessory piece. They delivered it and when they set it down in our family room I could see 4 clear chipped spots on the top. I told the delivery guys that's okay you can take it back as it's damaged. I called Ivan and he said to me "it's supposed to be like that, it's distressed." Ivan, I know what distressed is and this is not! He informed me of a few things. Again, it's supposed to be chipped, as there all unique ! He wouldn't give our money back. And just like a few other bad reviews on here, they made a claim that if you dispute your charge go ahead because they always win those battles. Then he proceeds to say " the owner Mike sits on responding back to the bank as long as he can. I already filed immediately with the dispute dept. I took very clear photos of the damaged top at time of delivery. I will cooperate with my bank until times up. As a retired attorney I will entertain your ego and put you and Ivan under a subpoena to court in front of a judge. I've been extremely thorough in my research. In the meantime I am in constant contact with my bank respecting the process. Honestly, I'm still laughing at the arrogance of Ivan. He comes across as your friend, and someone that truly cares. He and Modern Furniture represent themselves as an independent store with no one to complain to. I will keep pounding you through the legal system as well as social media. This is just the beginning. Welcome to my world Ivan and Mike. Hopefully this review will inspire people to think twice or even more to do business with your store. I'm not a believer in customers are always right, but when this is so blatantly obvious that the piece is damaged and not even a phone call from Mike the owner to try and resolve. I will carbon copy this letter to the BBB and all governing bodies that have a say in your store doing business. Talk to you both soon!!
This is an update from the owner to me. You have the audacity to write "you gave me a refund?" You did no such thing! After my bank reviewed the photos I sent to them of your damaged piece you claim wasn't damaged, they concluded your piece you delivered to us was "DAMAGED." They reversed the charges. I sent them in addition photos of the table and chairs we bought also distressed, but no chunks missing that wasn't painted. Your opinion on what defines distressed is completely different. You also reply your your striving to convey the best customer service! I never received communication from you wanting to resolve this matter at all! Ivan then informed me we've been to court many times and we always win! Inviting us into your store to view similar items? Our only concern was the exact piece we purchased of which you did not have. We went elsewhere to view the exact same piece. We viewed 4 different ones, and magically there were no chunks on the top of the table exposing the wood. The table and chairs we purchased from you also distressed, magically had no chunks gouged out on the table top or any where else. You have proven yourself on your own post you're nothing but a liar and a cheat. There have been multiple complaints regarding Ivan intimidating customers who have been wronged by you saying "we always win if you try and sue." You messed with the wrong guy. As someone that's been through law school, this wasn't hard to prove. I'm hopeful that future customers read my posts and think twice before putting themselves through a horrible experience.    Read moreI placed an order online back on July 4th but I was informed the recliner and sofa set I had purchased was not available due to high demand and possibly looking at a month or two before I would see the new set. I did keep in contact and talked to both Ivan and Ed but Ed was the most informative on what was happening when I called the store. They do have access to their online site to know if the furniture has been delivered to their store. At first I thought delivered I didnât receive this furniture..đ but then I realized itâs an update on their end to let you know modern received it but they deliver when they receive all your furniture. I am pleased to say furniture finally has arrived 9/13/25 and Buntington furniture by Ashley is absolutely beautiful, comfy, plush and supportive where your not sunk into the sofa trying to lift yourself up without falling back down and the reclining ends reveling all the way back for added support even the recliner itself just like a glorified bed in a chair. Ed like you said hopefully itâs worth it and thanks for being so patient well it definitely paid off because the outcome is more than I expected.đ. I had stopped in to get a coffee table for my apartment and they just directed me to a kiosk that I chose my coffee table from. They told me they would call me when the table was ready for pick up.
A few days later, they called me saying that the table was ready for pickup and so me and my girlfriend went to pick it up. After arriving at the store they asked me for my receipt, which they never instructed me to bring or have at the time of pickup. I told them I did not have it and the man at the front desk had the nerve to not only say "Well how do I know that you are you." but also "Oh you are the guy that ordered the coffee table" in the same breath. He also had the nerve to try and get my girlfriend to try and agree with him even though he was incorrect in the situation.
After a few minutes, they told me I had to drive a few minutes to a warehouse to pick up my coffee table. A WAREHOUSE! My coffee table they said was ready for pickup was at a warehouse that WAS NOT EVEN PUT TOGETHER YET.
