Great to see the Market improving and growing, and attracting customers! Congrats to all involved. It's a real asset to Bennington. But some suggestions to make it better: 1) Put prices on the pastries (the counter person had to verbally recite all the prices) 2) pay a little bit to a graphic designer to make customized signs at the trash bins. You could tell looking in the containers that none of the customers could figure out which container to use for trash, recycling, compostables. That's because you used generic graphics of containers - none of which are used at the market 3) "I'll be right with you," is a phrase that counter persons should be instructed to use. I waited and waited to pay for my sandwich while an otherwise polite counter person made someone coffee in front of me, never once acknowledging I was there. 4) give a slice of bread with a salad 5) someplace visible tell us about some of your farmer/suppliers - again professional graphic design would help. One of the missions of the Market is to support local farmers and craftspeople. So help us know who they are and how customers can support...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe staff at the deli were friendly, but there is a major disconnect between what is on the menu and what is actually served to the customer. We ordered 2 warm Tuscan chicken breast sandwiches, featured on the menu as specialty sandwiches at $14 each. To our dismay, what we received was a sandwich filled with the remnants and scraps from a roaster(some were cold by the way) that included generous amounts of skin, slim and dark stringy parts from chicken legs, grizzle and wing cartilage. We removed most of the meat as it was unappetizing. When I brought this to the attention of the deli staff person who took our order she was polite but stated that they do not buy chicken breasts but buy roasters. I suggested that they correct their menu as we paid for a chicken breast and received straps. Very poor quality deli experience and very overpriced for what you get. For $14 the sandwich comes with a pickle and a handful of stale potato chips. Iāve attached photos of the menu and the sandwich. I will not be returning to the deli at the Community Market nor can I recommend...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI decided to take my mother here for a decent cup of coffee and a cupcake last Friday. The barista is one of the kindest employees Iāve encountered and while we were having a lovely conversation, an older woman behind the counter became incredibly hostile and rude to my mother. While I was conversing with the barista this older woman asked my mother if āshe was going to stand around all day or actually pay for her coffee.ā At the time we were the only customers in the store and this made us feel rushed and unwelcome. This is the second hostile encounter Iāve had with this woman who has absolutely no customer service skills and should not be working in a customer facing...
