Elm Street Market — Restaurant in Bennington

I'm gonna be honest. I was hangry. My family and I were passing through on what would be a 6+ hour road trip home. We wanted to get food before getting closer to NYC, I frantically looked and looked, stressing myself out. Then I found this place. I discussed with the family, placed my order, then saw it would be 50 minutes until my order was ready. On a Saturday afternoon. I already paid. I was kinda mad as we were like ten minutes away. I also saw that there was zero tolerance for calling that we were there early, or pressuring them for the food early in any way. So we got there like 30-40 minutes early after finding a park and walking the dogs. After a while someone came out and asked us if we had ordered anything. I gave her my name, and she said that she would bring out the food if it was ready early. We waited at least another 20 minutes, and started to realize that it wasn't going to come out early. I believed it would take the full 50 minutes for them to give us our food. Sure enough, at 12:30 p.m. on the dot (when the order was promised to be ready) my husband went inside and asked them for the food. After they noticed him, they obliged and gave him a bag that had been sitting on the counter for who knows how long. That's when the magic happened...

Sandwiches are my favorite food. They always have been. There's something magic about protein fat and carbs that is irresistible to me. I'm something of a connoisseur of them. I love them with my whole heart. This is how I know I was hangry and impatient. Those sandwiches were GD delicious. I had a bite of every one that was in my car. Worth every moment that unnecessary anger shaved off my life lol. The bread. The filling. The combinations they've concocted. Perfection.

Today was a first for me. I have passed by this place time after time but never really had a good opportunity to stop and check them out till today. It was fantastic! They have an excellent menu and the place is actually a lot bigger on the inside then you would expect. I got the "Mayors Mark" sandwich and I cannot believe how amazing it was. I cannot wait to return to get another! I was extremely impressed by the service as well, As soon as I walked through the door I was greeted with and helped to decide what I wanted. Places a order with Boars head so I could buy a special deli meat that know one knows about in Vermont... I have never been there till then spent almost $50 for deli meat for all my friends and family and drove 30mins to pick it up ....the deli Clerk was extremely rude cause I asked her to cut all the meat they had available up and I could hear her speaking about me to other cashiers and my younger daughter was bothered it wasnt nice things she was saying even know that's her job...I personally will never shop there again... I was happy to give them my business but now I'm working with Boars head to have the meat cared in...
