Sunny Side Diner — Restaurant in Bennington

We stopped in for breakfast.

While the place has room to move about, we do recommend to find cover as one waits outside until a table gets ready. And as it was raining, you can understand our discomfort (we didn't want to wait in the car). As is witnessed often in less traveled areas, the parking lot is not paved, so be warned.

Now that we covered the 1st impressions, let's cover the breakfast, which is well exwcuted!

We had the blueberry pancakes (with maple syrup, de rigueur!) and biscuits and gravy, with over easy eggs. Simple order, simple execution.

Pancakes were light and fluffy, with fresh blueberries. Clearly, not from a batter mix... The sausage and gravy was unexpectedly not peppery nor salty. Actually it could qualify of a bit sweet(!), as if ground pork was used as its base instead of a traditional pork sausage filling. Not quite unpleasant,...

High Level: Very satisfied. Great service. Straight to the point breakfast menu. Reasonable prices.

Our family, 2 adults and 3 young children, ate breakfast here this morning. Was pleased at the beginning for the ample parking. Small, cozy inside but we were seated immediately at the table in the back. They were next to the bathrooms but you couldn't tell (bathrooms were very clean also!). Our server, who was very friendly, was quick to take drink order and deliver them. When ordering food she asked if I wanted jelly or pb on my toast and it blew my mind. Never in my 30+ years of going to breakfast have I ever been asked if I wanted pb on my toast. I was so excited and of course took the pb. Food was quick and cooked as we expected.

Sunny side diner is a family friendly mom and pop diner. If you’re looking for a place to go with your whole family for sunday breakfast (or any other day) i definitely recommend Sunny Side. The breakfast menu contains the basics; pancakes, eggs, waffles, homefries etc. they also carry regular syrup and actual real VT maple syrup. The waitresses/staff is always kind and attentive. They offer notification buzzers so if there’s a wait you don’t have to stand in the doorway waiting to be called. My family usually has a party of 6 when eating here and we all eat for under $75 including tip (this is with meals, extra sides, coffee for the adults, drinks for everyone and refills) which is what it would cost for 2-3 people to eat at most of the other local...
