I walked in with a smile on my face and 15 years of experience playing the guitar and owning relics. Noticed a beautiful 1994 Fender Stratocaster. I asked very kindly if I could plug it in, as I wanted to hear and feel how it played prior to purchasing.
The owner told me I didnāt know what I was holding, I donāt know what Iām talking about, and that he didnāt want me to play it. I own guitars dating back to the 70s, and ironically was missing my ā95 Strat that I sold a few months back.
Iāve literally never been treated this way by a shop owner. PSA, never buy a guitar before you hear and feel it, especially when heās charging $1200 for āmint conditionā.
You sell instruments sir, not art. Guitars are meant to be played. If you donāt want people to play it, you arenāt going to sell it. Just take it home and enjoy for yourself instead of lambasting patrons for standing too...
