I will just state what happened: Went in to have a gold chain/cross repaired. Needed a new bail (a tiny connector at the top of the cross, allowing it to hang from the chain). Also, I wanted the chain shortened. The owner said no problem, he would make a bail from the removed pieces (3 inches). We agreed he would return the scrap pieces. The price would be $80. When I returned to pick up my necklace, nothing that we agreed on occurred. There was a non-gold standard bail on the chain. He said he was unable to make the bail from the shortened pieces. Not sure why. He then went in the back and was saying loudly to someone so I could hear it.."where are those pieces from the necklace...yadda yadda". Then he came back and said the price was $60. I said oh, I thought it was $80. He then said, I gave you credit for the scrap pieces. You didn't want that scrap did you? Nothing you could do with it...etc.
Instead of arguing I said fine...and paid the $60, never getting back the 3" of gold chain. I left and went out to the car to try on the necklace, immediately noticing that nothing was removed from the length. It was the same length. No sooner than 30 seconds later I get a call. It was Chris, saying pull up in front, I forgot to do something. I was still in the parking lot, so I did pull up in front of the store. He takes the necklace back inside for about 10 minutes and then comes back and said "I looked in my sonic and noticed there was a diamond in there and it was yours from the cross"....and supposedly put it back in the cross. Hmmm...it sounded weird, but okay, whatever. Who knows what a sonic is? I know there were no missing diamonds in the cross when I inspected it after picking it up. After that, obviously something didn't seem right, so I pulled over in the parking lot, and tried the necklace on again. I immediately noticed it was shorter. I know exactly where the cross fell on my shirt the first time I tried it on after picking it up, and now it was way above that. Not really a problem, because I wanted it shorter in the first place.
The whole interaction with this business was weird. I was going to just forget it, but I called back to ask if what I saw with my own eyes was true. I won't even comment on the conversation. Totally strange and weird. What I think happened was he forgot to shorten it - - but had already duped me out of the actual value of 3" of the gold chain by offering me $20 credit for it (gold is currently almost $2,000/ounce). He realized this and called me back...then I think he made up the bizarre missing diamond story while taking the 3" of gold from my chain. Very strange experience!! Overall, I paid $60 for a non-gold bale and 3" of gold removed from my chain. Laughable! Oh well now I know never to return to this place. Have a nice day.
EDIT: Response to below: You did not make a bail of the removed pieces. You put on a standard cheap bail and kept the removed gold. Part of the price I paid was to make a bail and you didn't do it. Then you kept the scrap. Why would I take the time to write this review if the entire transaction was a ridiculous waste of money? Everything I said above is true, exactly as...
Read moreAbsolutely horrible! The owner, Chris, is extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband had gone in to his store in Bayville to have a customized birthday present made for me. My husband ordered a diamond pendant with baguettes in the middle. Chris was supposed to remove the baguettes and replace with birthstones for our children. Chris assured my husband this would not be an issue and they went over it, even drew out the plan. Satisfied and excited my husband put a deposit down. He said it would take a certain amount of days and when my husband had not heard back he stopped in to check in. Chris came out with the pendant that had the birthstones scattered around and no where near what my husband and him had originally discussed. Chris became rude once my husband expressed his disappointment and that he was unsatisfied. If I remember correctly (this was about two years ago so bear with me) Chris said he’d fix it in some way but he’d need more money for the deposit. My husband agreed since he’d already waited this long. Again he didn’t hear back so he went back in to check for a second time and again it wasn’t done properly. My husband at this point said it was obvious he would be unable to perform the work properly and he wanted his money back. Chris refused and became very nasty and horrible towards him. Luckily my husband recorded the whole encounter having a gut feeling walking into the store thst it wasn’t going to go well. Chris decided okay I’ll let you out the money towards something else, ok my husband calls me down to pick something out explaining the situation how he wanted so badly to surprise me for my birthday and how bad it went. I go down and now I’m aggravated with three kids, this guy refusing to return our money offering his terrible quality jewelry I wanted nothing to do with him and just wanted the money back. Chris was nasty to me in front of my kids and my husband. He even tried to persuade me husband must have been drinking 😂😂😂 my husband mAybe drinks three times a year, so nice try there buddy. Long story short he’s a horrible person refused to give us all of our deposit bht I finally got him to return around a third of it ($300). Take your business elsewhere! Do your homework and don’t trust scum like this with your money. We ended up purchasing a new wedding set for me a few months later from James Allen and i can’t tell you how amazing their service was and how impressive their products are! They come with appraisals they do video conferences, gia reports, the whole 9! I promise you this guy may work out for some who don’t know any better, but if you actually have any knowledge about quality diamonds and workmanship, you will know right away this guy is a scammer!! Run far away!
(Eta: can’t wait to see Chris’s reply. If you notice he continues his nasty attitude in responses to people who leave negative reviews, it’s...
Read moreChris will con you with a smile on his face. Sized a ring 3 times and charged me each time saying every time I came in my fingers grew 2 1/2 sizes because of the cold. Ring was a size 10 to start, he sized it up to a 12 1/2 adding a lot of gold which he charged me for, and after 3 times wound up at a size 10 1/2 only a half size bigger then when we did the first fitting. So he quoted a price of $150.00 which went up to $189.00 for the extra gold to get to a 12 1/2 which was never needed, then charged me two more times to fix his errors and gave no credit for the extra gold he wound up keeping and that I never should of been charged for if he measured right 3 times. So if you want anything sized or repaired and you are willing to pay numerous times for the same job this is your kind of place. Who ever heard of paying for the same repair 3 times because the so called expert couldn't get it right the first time. The reason that my finger grew 2 1/2 sizes because of the cold and he also said my hand changes sizes every time I come in is absurd. It's like a tailor altering a suit 3 times and charging you each time for his mistakes saying you must have gained 25 lbs in one day. You pay only once for a service not 3 or more times until he finally gets it right. Penny wise and...
