As an architect and designer deeply engaged in sustainable development, I can’t speak highly enough about Masaya Company. Their ADUs are nothing short of exceptional—thoughtfully designed, beautifully executed, and a true example of what regenerative design can and should be. What struck me immediately was the quality of the materials. Every finish feels intentional—solid, refined, and built to last. The layouts are incredibly efficient and functional, with a seamless integration of aesthetics and practicality. There’s a minimalist elegance to their design language, but it’s also warm and inviting. It’s rare to find ADUs that feel this high-end and yet so grounded in environmental values. Masaya brands their ADUs as zero-carbon, but from what I’ve seen, it’s actually regenerative—they’re putting more back into the environment than they’re taking. That kind of integrity is rare, and it makes a big difference to me as someone who’s currently developing a regenerative land-use project for a permaculture co-op in Sonoma County. Their approach fits beautifully with our values and vision. And then there’s the furniture—absolutely stunning. Everything is crafted from sustainably grown teak, which is not only incredibly strong and durable but also part of their broader regenerative forestry work. The furniture is comfortable, sculptural, and elegant—it works harmoniously with the architecture of the ADUs. The fact that you can furnish your unit in a cohesive design language makes the whole offering even more compelling. In short, Masaya is setting a new standard. Their ADUs and furniture are not only beautiful and functional but also aligned with a much-needed ecological ethic. I’m thrilled to be integrating their work into our project and can’t wait to see how it all comes together.

I was very skeptical of this company after reading one negative review, so I thought I’d share my experience. First of all, my team table is stunning, durable and very unique, a totally conversation starter. I bought the Teak Large Batea coffee table. It is rapidly becoming my favorite piece of furniture. The shipping communication leaves something to be desired, but I blame that more on the shipper (Maersk) than the company. Overall, I’m really happy and will definitely consider other pieces by this company in the future.

As an interior stylist, I see an endless stream of products daily, but Masaya immediately stood out. Their furniture isn't just beautiful; it's a true example of craftsmanship. You can feel the care that went into every detail, from the smooth joinery to the rich, hand-finished wood grain. It's rare to find furniture today that balances design, durability, and sustainability so thoughtfully. The quality rivals pieces that cost twice as much, making it an incredible investment.

My partner and I stopped in a few months ago serendipitously while walking through the are. We had never heard of Masaya beforehand, and turns out they had been opened in Berkeley for only a week. Since, we have purchased a bed frame, side table, and a couple of colorful chairs. We could not be happier with the quality and attention to detail, and are soon looking forward to upgrading our dining room table. Special thanks to Trisha and her staff for answering all of our particular questions (we like being “green”) and helping find pieces that fit our needs. We wish that we aware of their modular housing...

I was drawn in by the atmosphere of the shop when I walked in; everything from the layout, displays, colors, and shapes. Upon walking further in to take a closer look I was met by Monica, one of the sales associates who was very sweet and helpful and gave me the run-down of the backstory of the company.

Originating from Nicaragua, the pieces marry both Scandinavian design with Nicaraguan woven textiles which to me was like trying a new recipe for the first time.

I noticed that they also offer design services so I might have to...
