Stopped in because I was looking for a funky hole punch for a project, as one does. Once I found where they were located in the store, I sent a photo of the options to my spouse to see which one they liked and, while I waited for a response, I wandered the store to see if any other sections had something that could work. And you know how it is, you see something cool that makes you think of something else you'd like to do and, before you know it, you're in the back corner checking out $10 paint brush sets in clearance. While I was on this adventure, a clerk suddenly joined me in this little corner of the store and casually moved two boxes 6 inches and then slowly turned and walked away. Clearly they thought I was stealing. So I headed back up to the punches, called my spouse who didn't answer, and hastily picked one so I could get out of there as fast as possible. When I went to check out, the cashier and the clerk who followed me were pretty clearly talking about me and made me wait while they were having their discussion. The whole thing was a pretty shame-inducing experience and made me feel awkward and weird. The clerk who followed me wouldn't even look at me as they scuttled past. Are customers not allowed to browse? Was there something about my appearance that they judged as particularly shady? Good thing I'm a tough broad who mostly laughed about it with my friends afterward. But that is a seriously not cool way to treat a semi-regular customer and makes me inclined to do my craft supply shopping somewhere that doesn't make me feel...
Read moreWe absolutely love Michael's. We diy a lot, plus the kiddo love the craft kits, and my mom is the scrapbook queen. We frequent Michael a lo and never have a bad experience. Just the other day we had one of the very best shopping experiences EVER- I have a child with sensitively issues & special needs so we do alot or orders online and pick up in store. The other morning my father brought my son in to pick something up because hes too young to be left alone in the car. During the pick up my son started to have a melt down the lady was so understandable (scared she had a close friend or friend member with a child just like mine) she didnt spare, treat me differently & actually bagged his stuff up alone for him and totally ended the melt down. My dad normally gets so embarrassed and upset and she was able to relax my son, saving my dad & my dad. She gave my father hope again. He's no longer cares what's people think when my son has some kind of reaction. And she remembered him that not only did she work for Michael's but she worked for him as well & all that mattered what was currently happening & she was willing to not only be patient but help him. She made both my dad & my son's day. I appreciate what she did more than works. I wish I knew her name to thank her personally. Everyone's so friendly and we will ...
Read moreTwo days ago I visited this particular Michael’s in Biddeford, Maine for the first time.
Yes, the store had what went to get.
But the service was not great. No one spoke when I entered, which is not a big deal, and no one offered to help me, which is a big deal.
I found what I needed and went to the check out area. There was an open check out line and two self-check outs with customers using both. There were two associates standing by the open check out line, but neither offered to wait on me. So I waited while customers finished at self-check and checked myself out.
While I did that, the two associates were discussing the fact that one associate was going to have to drive to New Hampshire because her mother’s car needed a new part and she would need help getting it fixed. It’s a good thing I didn’t need help at the check out because neither of them offered.
When I was done checking out my several fairly small items, I asked if they had bags. I was told, “No.” And that was it. However, as I walked out, one of the associates finally acknowledged me and said, “Have a nice day.”
I did have a nice day. But my trip to this Michael’s store didn’t have anything at all to do with that.
Great store. Not great...
