This is a recount of my personal experience as a solo patron. I want to be fully transparent in saying that yes I would return to this restaurant but only in a group setting, not as a solo diner. I arrived and was immediately seated but had to wait 15+ minutes before service was rendered. This was no issue and the waitress servicing me as well as the hostess came to apologize about the wait. Apparently the waitress services both the hibachi tables and the standalone booths/tables. Perhaps a better system can be worked out but they are hiring. Also I debated on ordering from the Japanese, seafood, or both so I was grateful for the time. Once I ordered (both drink and entree) at the same time, service was pretty fast after that. I ordered the shrimp teriyaki bento box as I had originally planned to order the hibachi lunch with a sushi roll so this seemed to be the best option. The bento box on the picture of the menu marked "lunch options" showed the soup/salad, chicken with veggies, rice, and shumai. The menu stated you could choose a soup or salad along with an entree meat and choice of specific sushi. I chose spicy crab roll. Fried rice is an upcharge of $2 so I opted not to get that, why pay $2 for additional calories lol. Now let me mention that I ordered a mango-lado which is a frozen Pina colada with mango flavoring. The drink was decent, not sure it was worth $9 but I knew the price prior to ordering so I'm not complaining. I was served the salad and then the bento box arrived probably5 minutes later. The shumai was good. The sushi was good. My issue was I given a big pile of rice with 6 shrimp. I inquired about the hibachi veggies which were pictured on the menu. The waitress informed me that veggies came with the dinner but not the lunch. I asked her why they were pictured on the page marked lunch. She stated this has been an issue. OK then why not make it explicitly clear to patrons when they place an order? The bento boxes I've ordered from other places always came with veggies. I inquired how much getting a small portion of veggies on the side would cost. The waitress stated probably $4-$5. At this point, I just asked for a to-go plate cause I was done. For me, if going with a group of people the atmosphere is OK cause you can focus on more than just the food. As a solo patron, I felt the food was way overpriced especially if you're not getting the hibachi table experience which it seems everyone pays for with the pricing. But again if someone invited me to go, I'd gladly go back. Food wasn't bad but I literally could get a bento box from izumi express for half the price and with veggies and fried rice. If it matters to you, they do charge a cashless payment charge. I'm not sure of the percentage rate on that. After tip, I paid $36 for the drink and bento box. I may come back to try the rockin crab side.

Warning to owner. If you don’t read this and learn, you will be closed in 1 year. I hope you will really read this message. My wife and I are very happy when new eateries come to Grovetown, GA and when we heard Miyako Rockin Crab was coming, we were very excited to try this place. Today, 11 April 2024 was our first time ever with Miyako Rockin Crab and we were excited to try lunch. Oh boy, big disappointment. We were greeted well at the door. We had a young girl serving us. There were 3 sushi preparers. We needed some time to order, since it is our first time, we ordered water first. My wife chose the Lunch Shrimp and Fish Basket (you will see pictures and receipt). Her food arrived very quickly and very hot. Huge plate. The batter was a bit bland on the shrimp and fish and a large portion. The ketchup, tartar sauce, and cocktail sauce was good and the french fries were great and hot. I was left waiting for my food for about 15 minutes. I ordered the lunch bento box. Boy was I disappointed. The picture of the bento box on the menu is not what you get. I ordered the steak, medium rare. Meat was cooked well but it was a tough cut of meat and they came in strips so I had to tear the meat with my fork and teeth (no knife provided… I guess I should have asked). The rice was cooked well but for fried rice it is 2 dollars more. I am oriental. LOL. Rice is cheap. Fried rice should not be 2 dollars more. I paid almost 19 dollars for a lunch bento box. Thank God I ordered a special sushi… the Miyako Special Roll. I was impressed but the sushi was a bit small for a special sushi but very tasty. Problem with sushi that will make the business go out of business.. 1. Sliced tomato as a design is a waste. 2. The tree is attacked to the plate on top of wasabi and yet there is another wasabi next to the huge mound of pickled ginger. Total amount of lunch meal was $48.06. No one pays that amount at any other places. Toki and Kyoto’s is better and cheaper. Plus look at the receipt. Because I used a credit card, the business charged me the fee to use their machine…. See Non-Cash Adjustment. Look that up and you will what that is… it is the credit card fee that most companies eat themselves and not charge the customer. I did get a 10% military discount. Wow. Whoopee. NOT. This place needs to change or you will not be open for long. There is strong potential for this company and I hope they will make changes. The set up and bar looks great. Oh yeah, I almost forgot. The Ginger dressing on the salad is the worst I have tasted. I don’t believe it has any carrots. Yes, ginger dressing has carrots in the ingredients. They ginger dressing is almost mayonnaise based.

Arrived at 8:40 pm our bartender Nia took our drink order (not busy compared to other evenings we have been in, handful of tables and people at the bar) Ordered water and two beers, had to ask 3 times for the waters before getting them from another bartender 8:49 pm order two boils. One 1/2 pound shrimp and 1/2 sausage (mild butter garlic) One low country boil with eggs on side (Cajun hot) Waiting till 9:29 pm and we're told it would be 5 minutes that the kitchen has new employees and it takes a while. 10 minutes later food comes out, it is catfish which wasn't ordered and a boil bag with the wrong spice and sauce Manager comes out with one boil 5 minutes later, still wrong spice and sauce asking what we ordered. Not only did the bartender mess up but the kitchen did as well. Our food didn't get to us until 9:40 pm The bartender told us multiple times we would have no bill, maybe have to pay for a beer or two and no worries we are going to take care of you and then handed me a full bill for the food minus the drinks. I then went to the manager on duty and explained to her what happened and she said that it was never stated that we would not have a bill at any point, she then continued to speak to Nia the bartender and came back saying don't worry I'll take care of you and asked for my card (without handing me a final bill) only after I was charged did I realize the manager gave us a whopping total of $9.79 off the bill that was supposed to be no more then $10. During our visit I witnessed the bartender break 4-5 glasses and mess up 3 other customers orders in addition to ours. This is not how customer service should ever be handled! I will NEVER COME BACK TO THIS RESTAURANT.

I must say, I have eaten here at least 6 times since they opened. The food is awesome! However I ordered a $40 Habachi meal on 7/10/24 and the food was disgusting! The steak was not medium rare like I requested. The rice was regular white rice, and not fried and there was absolutely no flavor to food! On top of this I could not eat the full day prior due to a procedure which required me not to eat. So for me to come straight to this place after my procedure, the food must be good… once I was dropped off home, I was extremely upset because I could tell this was going to go wrong! I had regular white rice and Brillo pad steak- I mean the steak was tough. I called the restaurant immediately and the guy was really nice and tried to accommodate me. He asked me to bring the food back and he could remake but I was not able to drive - so I told him I would bring the untouched distasteful food back the next day. I did. So it was explained to me that the food orders for to go and the actual habachi style are different- the taste is not the same… even if the same thing is ordered. I asked for a refund and that was refused because it would have to be refunded the same day. The nice lady said they could remake it… but why? So the food can be wasted again??? So then I asked to be seated to the habachi table. I was told I could not because at least two people had to be seated. So as we are speaking about the situation, I am standing there looking crazy as hell about my money. So finally a family asked for habachi and I was allowed to tag along with them. I don’t blame the staff at all because they went above and beyond my expectations and even though they were extremely nice they understood my frustration and I understood their position. The lady received all her directives from the owner. This is POOR customer service on your behalf and I totally blame you (owners)! I wasn’t looking for anything other than what I paid for! No compensation was rendered, nor did the owner come out to take care of the situation. I will not allow anyone to steal from me! If they treat customers like this, I wonder how the employees are treated! This is GREED! I had stuff to do and not time to sit at a table just to order my food take a few bites and ask for a to go plate. Owners please do better! I should be offered a free appetizer, or something to compensate this ordeal! Not to mention the food is definitely over priced!!!! They even charged for extra white sauce -...
