Their food is okay. As others have said, it's possibly the best Mexican you can get in the area - their burritos in particular are great.
My issue is, I've only been a few times (and only once during the pandemic), and didn't remember if their beans were vegetarian. When I asked at the front, the guy scoffed and said "Um... They're beans?" as if all beans are made vegetarian. I explained that plenty of beans are made with meat, and that traditionally refried beans are made with lard. He quickly said, "Oh, yeah, we make our food traditionally, so they probably aren't vegetarian." Honestly, all I wanted was for him to find out, since he didn't know. But they were fairly busy and I didn't want to hold up the line any more than I already had.
All in all, I was pretty disappointed with the service. I don't plan on eating there anymore, largely because I don't think I could even trust them if they did tell me it was vegetarian, at this point. I don't think I'd trust them to know allergen info, either. I certainly don't expect all employees to know the ingredients of all foods, but I do expect them to know when to ask...
Read moreI read the reviews and still ordered, that was my mistake. I ordered trio rice with a side of beans. I can’t lie, when I seen the picture I thought to myself it wasn’t going to be good to taste. It looked very bland, and that’s exactly what they delivered lol the reviews mentioned no taste and there was none. It was just meat on rice over cheese. The only thing you could taste was the cheese. I seasoned it myself and still ended up throwing more than half away. The shrimp seemed over cooked and the meal didn’t look fresh. It’s funny because I got all this from the picture but I’m new to the area and wanted to try it. Other things may be good but this was not. Believe all of what you see and a little what you hear. I will not order again or recommend. Yes, I’ve had way better from Taco Bell (prev review stated) lol the beans do not have that authentic taste. Who’s in the kitchen? Do better for the next...
Read moreWe just moved here and love Mexican food! Have been dying to come to La Cocina Del Rey. When we entered the restaurant, the first thing I noticed was the ripped up seats and choppy tile. Many servers standing around in the back. The salsa bar is a neat idea if you are worried about Covid, but there should be bowls not tiny sample cups for the tables. We decided on steak and chicken Quesadillas. The side salad seems to be a filler for the meal. The flour tortilla used for the Quesadillas wasn't burnt, but was dripping in grease - is this normal? The Steak was tough and hard to chew, the chicken was diced so small, I thought I had baby food? The beans were cold, flavorless with unmelted cheese in the middle, did they come from a can? Sure tasted like it! The food is reasonably priced, but missing the traditional authentic flavors we love. With the Air Conditioning on high the food...
