I switched to Goldâs Gym almost 20 years ago because New Light Fitness never fixed their equipment, and I rarely saw the manager. Goldâs Gym was appealing because I work for a helicopter service, flying across the United States. Instead of using hotel gyms, I could visit Goldâs locations, including ones in California and South Carolina. However, they changed vendors to MUV Gym, which reduced the number of accessible locations, diminishing the gymâs convenience. Since I plan to retire in two years, I decided to stick with it. One day, while using machine #27 for lat pulldowns, a young gym member left their bag behind me without my knowledge. When I stepped back from the machineâthe only way to exitâI tripped over the bag, injuring my elbow and knee. I tried to continue my workout, but the pain was too severe. I was out of commission for three months. During that time, I received a survey from Goldâs Gym asking for feedback. I expressed my frustration about gym bags left on the floor, causing me to trip and get injured, and noted that this could impact their insurance costs. I received no response. Three months later, another survey arrived. I reiterated my concerns about tripping over bags and getting hurt, emphasizing that no one, including the manager, had addressed the issue. Still, no response. Three months after that, I got yet another survey. I gave all low ratings, repeated my complaints about the injuries and gym bags, and noted that signs warning against leaving bags on the floor had been removed. I told them to stop sending surveys. Finally, they stopped. no one actually contacted me whatsoever. Another issue arose with the lockers. I prefer quieter lockers away from the loud TV. I consistently used one locker, securing it with my lock. Someone else started using that locker, so I moved to another. The next day, that locker was locked too. This pattern continued, with locks appearing on my chosen lockers, pushing me toward less desirable ones. After six months, I complained to who I believe was the assistant manager, as Iâve never met the actual manager. I showed him the growing number of locked lockers. He put up a sign stating that locks must be removed daily or they would be cut off by April 31. When April 31 came, the locks were still there, but the sign was gone. I wrote three letters to the Forest Drive manager ( I believe her name is Kelsey. ) about these issues, but she never responded or contacted me. NEVER ! At this point, I donât want her to. If she canât address my concerns after multiple letters, I have no interest in dealing with her.
I now go to Killian Road Gym. Though itâs farther from my house, the pool and whirlpool are crystal clear, and works! unlike whirlpool on Forest Drive that may work or may not work. Itâs Green as always it sucking water in the simmer cause water is always too low Iâve met the manager at Killian Road three times, and she is friendly, helpful, and attentive. The entire staff there is welcoming and professional. After Forest Drive ignored my surveys and letters,(I still have every single one of them) itâs clear they donât care about their customers. Killian Road Gym, however, genuinely values its members. FOREST...
Read moreI recently had a frustrating experience at One Life Fitness due to an incorrect charge. In December, I was billed an annual fee that I had already paid in September, and I should not have been charged again until the following year. When I spoke with the manager, Kenyatta, she admitted that multiple members were incorrectly billed but stated that the gym had not notified those affected. This means that unless members check their bank statements, they may not even realize they were overchargedâsomething I find completely unethical.
I was initially told by another employee that I would receive a refund to my bank account. However, after following up with Kenyatta, I was informed that instead of issuing the refund properly, the gym had applied it as a credit to my One Life account. When I requested the money be returned to my bank, she refused, stating I could receive a check instead. Her tone and attitude during our conversation were dismissive and unprofessional, making an already frustrating situation worse.
This is not the first time I have witnessed unprofessional behavior from Kenyatta. On a previous occasion, I received a promotional bag for referring a friend who was considering joining the gym. When my friend ultimately decided not to sign up, Kenyatta demanded that I return the bag, over 2 weeks later after I had already been using the bag, which I found petty and unnecessary. Additionally, I have been informed by a staff member that she engages in inappropriate relationships with gym members. While her personal life is her business, this type of conduct creates an uncomfortable and unprofessional environment, especially for paying members who expect a high standard of service and ethics from management.
Beyond these concerns, I find it completely unacceptable for a gym to improperly charge members without notifying them. A public notice should be posted to alert members of the mistake so they can verify their statements and request refunds as needed. The lack of transparency, professionalism, and accountability at this location is alarming, and I hope corporate management takes immediate action to address these...
Read moreMy fiance is 5" and 100lbs. She's is only comfortable with the area upstairs with the smaller incremental weights, Smith machine, deadlift platform ect.. on 2-26-18 we went to go work out. She headed upstairs and as she approached a machine no one was using, a personal trainer named Danielle told her she couldn't use any of the equipment in that area because it was for personal trainers and there client only. I asked Danielle about this because that's never happened to me over the year and half I've been going there. She said when there's not so many people there she could use that area. On 2-28-18 the crowd was less than half that on 2-26 so I began to use the deadlift platform upstairs. It's the only location with bumper plates designed for deadlifting.. in the middle of my set Josh another personal trainer approached me and told me I couldn't lift there and had to find somewhere else to go. He seemed happy to interrupt me in the middle of my routine with no remorse. I found Danielle in her office and told her about what happened. Another trainer named Marcus was standing beside her. As I was explaining they didn't seem concerned at all and Danielle began to almost laugh at me saying "poor thing, you just can't catch a break" I said excuse me and that's when Marcus told me to leave the office.. on top of that there was blood in the men's bathroom that took them more than 2 hours to clean.. needless to say my fiance sent in her cancellation form and I will doing so as well. I will be happy to...
