One afternoon I put a deposit down to have my daughters party there without having her with me.. a few hours later When she got out of school I called to see if I could bring my daughter in to make sure she wanted to have her party there... the person who answered the phone was very nice and told me I had three days to get a refund. About two minutes later they call me back and said they talked to the owner and it’s completely non refundable... even just an hour later. They said as soon as you put the deposit it’s immediatley non refundable. I then asked if for some reason we changed our mind, could we buy cookies to equal the $50 value? They told me no to that as well. Then I called on four different occasions leaving a message to talk to the owner about at least being able to buy cookies with the money and she never called me back. I had two choices for my deposit... have the party there or loose fifty dollars. I ended having the party trying to make the best of it. The cookie cake was so badly underbaked that most of my guests didn’t eat it. Two children fell off the very wobbly swing and smacked their heads on the floor... the girls who worked the party... of the two, one was very nice and the other was not at all. In regards to the deposit... In those few hours, they told me they didn’t turn anyone away in that time frame. I could understand if it had been a few days or they turned someone away, I would totally get that. I would have been satisfied with a credit for $50 of cookies or something. Just completely a bad experience...
Read moreVisited the Boardman location today, and I was informed that they no longer accept their "black" gift cards when I attempted to use mine for a $28 sale. They said that they no longer use the same gift card merchant and cannot do anything about the ~$30 balance remaining, and did nothing at all to rectify the situation.
Well, according to Ohio Law .... "Section 1349.61 | Sale of gift card expiring within two years of sale prohibited. (B) A gift card sold without an expiration date is valid until redeemed or replaced with a new gift card."
The card does not have an expiration date. Even if they switched gift card merchants, they should still find a way to honor the remaining cards. This is not the problem of the consumer, but a problem of the business, itself. And the business, if they are concerned at all about good customer service, should try to make the situation right for those customers who have the old gift cards. Instead, in my case, they stole $30, broke the law, and motivated me to write this bad...
Read moreVery disappointed after calls and calls they never got back to me. I purchased a Local deal while One Hot Cookie was located in Wexford PA. After I purchased the deal a week or two later the Wexford store closed with no warning. It’s actually still there now with signs on the door closed. I tried to see if I could use my local deal at another location in Boardman or Youngstown.
The girl that answered told me no. I called and left messages for the owner and she never bothered to call me back. It’s not like I was asking for $100. I only wanted to use the Local deal that I purchased. I think that’s bad business.
Would not recommend!!
11/16/21 After reading your response. I wasn’t expecting your store to close down after purchasing the Voucher. I don’t travel to Ohio often. I did call over a year ago. No one ever called me back. After reading your response I definitely would not recommend you. That’s basically poor business. I just think of everybody else that lost out on their vouchers as well. Good...
