When I was a little boy, I admired the watch my dad had. It was a Waltham 100, made in the late '50s, early '60s. He stopped wearing it when it stopped running, probably in the early 70's. When he passed 40 years later, I inherited it. It sat for 15 years more before I took it in to Ken and told him I'd like him to look at it and see if it could be restored.
He already seemed familiar with the watch and told me he could do it. He had it for a couple of months as he needed to order parts. He took it completely apart and acid-washed every moving part. He had to order a replacement gear, which he did. He polished the 10k gold bezel and cleaned up the watch face, leaving the patina of age and history that I desired. He replaced the sapphire crystal and reassembled the watch. Then he put it on a timing device that calibrated it for accuracy. When finished, then he installed an absolutely beautiful leather band that is appropriate for the era and makes it a stunning collectible.
Wow, a 60-year-old classic timepiece brought back to life! It is self-winding and it runs perfectly.. I am delighted with Ken and his lovely wife Pat, who stayed in touch with me and kept me informed throughout the process. They also replaced two other expensive but beautiful watch bands for a couple of my other favorite watches.
If you can't already tell, I have been totally impressed with their professionalism, their commitment to excellence and their patience with a customer like me. There is the old saying that you get what you pay for. K&M delivered genuine...
Read moreI previously left a review. It upset the owner so much. He personally called me. I needed a watch battery. It was late on a Friday afternoon and we were going away for the weekend. Told me $50 dollars. $50 dollars for a watch battery? I felt i was being robbed. But like I said? We were going away. That’s the ONLY reason i was willing to pay. Then in store he says $40 like he’s doing me a big favor.
He called me after the first review i left because i called him a crook. Which he is. $40 dollars for a watch battery. I recently had it replaced for $15. He also said the days of $15 dollar watch batteries were history. He was wrong. Shows how much he knows about Jewelry. His reply was? I forgot to mention the $40 was for the lifetime of the watch. He never told me that. Don’t trust this man. I missed his call to me. So i initially deleted the first review. I shouldn’t have. But I didn’t want this guy haunting me. I’m assuming that’s why he was calling? Was he going to tell me to delete it. I assuming he flagged it to Google? And they didn’t? That’s why i’m leaving this one. But to actually call me? Like i said? Do not trust this man. He’s no good. His only interest is $$$. He figured he’d never see me again. So why not i guess? Yet he doesn’t understand the power of social media. He underestimated things. He’ll probably be calling me again soon now. Imagine? Violating my privacy over a watch battery. Well Ken. You should have did the right thing to start? Told me $15 dollars.
Blessings...
Read moreTotally shocked to see the only one star review for this business. Has no one ever wanted to return an item? My husband made the mistake of buying me a necklace for my birthday from K &M jewelers for $7500. It is not an item that I want and they do not carry the item that I want (a statement gold chain) we went back the next day to return the purchase but even though it was a Thursday and we were there three times during their normal Business hours, the store was shuttered. We left messages that were not returned. We went back today and were told about the no refunds policy - there is no policy displayed in the store but the receipt was rubber stamped " no refunds" - I pointed out that the no refunds clause was not revealed until after the purchase was completed but that seemed not to matter. I was given the option to get a gold chain - but - at a cost of $124,000 per ounce! - I imagine my $7500 will not get me the statement necklace I am looking for. So. If you are shopping for your significant other without knowing whether they like the item you would purchase - stay away from K & M jewelers. If you want a gold chain and think that $124000 an ounce sounds high, check out...
