In 2013, I bought a new Exmark zero-turn mower and an Echo grass trimmer from Tubbs. Don was the salesman, he told me that the Echo had the best warranty of all trimmers. It had a 5-year warranty. Last month, I sent the trimmer back to Tubbs to get service on it because it would not stay running for over a few seconds. I got a call from them in about a week or two saying that it is ready to be picked up and I owe $116. I said that that couldn't be because it is in warranty. I asked to speak to Don. He was unavailable, so I spoke with his son Kenneth. He said the warranty is 5-years for the gearbox and shaft, but the carburetor has only a 2 month warranty. I explained to Kenneth that I was not told about the 2 month carburetor warranty at the time of purchase and he should at least discount the repair cost because of the misunderstanding. He refused. I also operate a retail store. I sell washers, for example, that have a 15 year warranty on the transmission. I do not tell my customers at the time of sale that the washer has a 15 year warranty and mislead them into thinking that covers the entire machine. I will not buy anything else from them. 8/18/2016 EDIT: Mr. Tubbs called me to see if there was anything he could do to fix the way I felt about my previous experience. He offered to service my Exmark mower for no charge. While it was there, he replaced the blades (because they were dull), and sharpened my old blades for me to keep as a spare set. I really appreciate what they did and I have decided to give them a...
Read moreI booked a rental for a cotton candy machine a month on advance. I also asked if they had blue floss and was told they had a "ton" of it. I called the day before and confirmed my reservation and that they still had blue floss. I arrived the next day at 4pm, they had the machine, but not one single box of blue floss. I rented it and had to use different floss which didn't go with the event we were using it for. I rented it on Saturday, they were closed Sunday, and I returned it Monday after work around 4pm. They charged me another day of rental $50 because I didn't return it at 8am Monday. None of the paperwork said Saturday rentals have to be returned by 8am nor was I informed of this at the time of renting it. You don't get to charge people arbitrarily without them having any knowledge beforehand. They could have made it right, but Mr. Tubbs didn't care. I told him I would never be back in his store and he just shrugged. I can understand why such an uncaring, non customer focused person has to carry a gun tucked in his pants at work. Don't go here if you don't want to be taken advantage of both in service and price. I will be disputing the charge with my credit card company, and telling ALL my friends what a shady...
Read moreI wanted to take a minute to tell people why I recommend shopping at Tubbs Hardware in Bossier City. A few years back I purchased a Toro ZTR Mower from them, model SW5000. It was GREAT.. Last year while it was still in warranty I started started having a starting issue with it.. Took it back to Tubbs, and wouldn't you know it, every time they turned the key the darn thing would crank right up. The mechanic must have started and stopped it 7 or 8 times, and it fired right up.. The problem couldn't be duplicated so I took it home.. Of course at home the problem kept occurring, so I took my phone and recorded myself starting the mower. When I took it back to Tubbs at the start of this season, I talked directly to the owner, Don Tubbs and played the video for him. We went back and showed the video to one of his mechanics who immediately diagnosed the issue as a bad starter.. Don told the mechanic that I had experienced this problem last year and to fix it under warranty. They did and it now fires up like a brand new mower. My thanks to Don at Tubb's hardware for making sure this customer walked away happy. Outstanding customer service along with great products. I certainly recommend...
