Polkadog Bakery — Local services in Boston

I LOVE this place! They have a great selection and the staff is always friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable.

I've been getting treats and food here for a few years but my recent experience spurred me to write this five star review. My dog has recently had some health issues and I ended up having to put him on a prescription diet. We ran out of food last week and the vet was out of it as well (damn supply chain!). We tried giving him some of the food he enjoyed before but it was clearly messing with his stomach so I wasn't sure what to do. I went into Polkadog, told the person at the front desk my story, and they did some research and found a food they sold that had the same ingredients. It worked great! My dog was once again full and happy!

After a week he finished the small test bag I bought so I called in to see if they had something larger. The person who answered the phone knew exactly what I was asking for (even though I did a poor job of describing it) and even talked to me about the different options to make sure I was getting the right thing. Not only did they have it in stock but it was half the price of the prescription stuff I was feeding him before!

I can't say enough good things about this place! If management is reading this (I really wish I remembered these employees' names!) the person with a ponytail working on 1/20 around 4:30pm and the thin, dark-haired person working the evening of 1/10 or 1/11...

I can't say that I am a cat owner since they both run the house. Instead I'll say, I am the Human Ambassador for my Cats. I visit the shop in Jamaica Plain and find it is the best local spot for good quality products for my cats. You'd think that a place called PolkaDOG wouldn't have anything available for cats but you'd be mistaken. They have a wide selection of food, toys and treats as well as some premium cat litters, and other accessories just for cats. The sales people are friendly and pleasant. A customer is guaranteed to bring their furry friend into the store with them so it is often bustling with energy. Polkadog Bakery is a nice place to shop for cats as...

UPDATE 2019: Still 5 stars. Visiting this location has become to us what going to church on Sunday's is for other people. Sometimes they even see us parking and meet us at the door to say hello to my two dogs as we come in. Though it doesn't personally bother me (because literally all you have to do is ask), I have heard some disdain about only some items have prices listed on them from other folks. For the quality and consistency, our favorite are the wonder nuggets, bully sticks, and their raw food selection. More importantly, the staff are wonderful, sweet people and really make you feel...
