Vee Vee — Restaurant in Boston

We wandered in footsore and overheated and not knowing what to expect. What a treat was in store. Small, colorful and comfortable with a helpful waitstaff that’s attentive w/o being obsequious. There are so many ways a fried oyster appetizer can go wrong, but not here. The presentation was stunning and the oysters and dipping sauce delightful. The suggested wine was unknown to me, but was perfect. I had a lamb loin entree with fava beans and a sauce accented with tiny fried shreds of leek that impressed me on the plate and palate, not to mention the stomach. Again I was offered an unknown red that worked wonders pulling everything together. I hadn’t been to Vee Vee in years, and was so excited to hear about their partnership with Chef Valentine and Black Cat. I’m a HUGE fan of Top Chef, wanted to go support a local Black cheftestant, and to sample an Afro-Caribbean menu. My partner and I LOVED everything we ordered, from the ceviche to the scallops, it was superb! Ella, our server was great, and took good care of us. And then to top it all off, Chef Valentine visited our table (and let me talk his ear off!) The menu is a welcome addition to the neighborhood, and it was nice to see such a diverse group of guests in JP. The combination of Vee Vee and Black Cat makes for a perfect date night, dinner with friends, or solo dinner at the bar. I hope Chef Valentine stays on. We will definitely...

ORIGINAL POST 4/27/22: This is one of our favorite restaurants in JP! The menu is limited in size but not limited in flavor - we recently took my parents and they completely agree. We’ve tried a handful of different items over the seasons, but we always find ourselves coming back for the chicken and steak entrees. This is a small restaurant with a comforting vibe, great for a date night or group of four (just make a reservation!).

UPDATE 8/27/22: we visited for our anniversary and sat on the new patio. It is absolutely lovely, and our server (Alex) was attentive and brought us a small treat to celebrate! Definitely try to sit outside if there’s availability and the weather is nice, you won’t be...
