Itâs fine for buying items off the shelf, but their appliances and in-home services are severely lacking. We went in there looking at washers and dryers first. They didnât have much on the floor to compare and shop. We worked with two different sales people between our 3 visits. One seemed pretty knowledgeable, the other flat out wasnât.
We also wanted to get semi-custom closet systems in our new home. We wanted the Home Decorator brand they have in store, supposedly they will help design and install it. At first I couldnât find anyone to help, so I called the number on the signs by the display. It turns out that number reaches a different product line, and they couldnât install the Home Decorator series, only a Rubbermaid product. And, she couldnât tell me much about the product, not even color options. So I went in search of an employee in the store.
Eventually ended up talking to a guy who filled out a contact form on the computer and he said theyâd call me. While I waited, I looked at W|D with this guy. He didnât really know anything about them. when the closet person called, it was the same group I had just talked to, so not really helpful. I was super frustrated and went to the front desk to ask for a manager to see if he/she could help me figure out how to get the Home Decorator series they have in store. When the manager came up, it was the same guy who filled out the contact form and was not knowledgeable on the washers and dryers.
I tried to explain again what I wanted. He said he thought that group he set me up with was right, so he obviously doesnât know that product either. He set me up to meet with a kitchen cabinet designer.
Fast forward to my meeting with him. It was a miserable experience, he was condescending and impatient with me. I stayed very calm even though I felt like I knew the product better than him. He wouldnât listen to me and what I wanted. I would have to show him what I wanted in his catalog after him telling me it wasnât available. At one point he told me what his wife would want which was different than what I was asking for. It took over 2 hours to design my small master closet, and he didnât even give me a price because he had to go to lunch. I had to go back another day to do a second closet and get the price. That day we had to wait for 20 minutes after our appointment time for him to be available. Again, it took an hour to design one closet. But we finally got a price and it was a lot more than what I had priced on their website. ($8,000+ compared to $5,500) for the same design.
He called me to follow up a few days ago and was VERY rude. I was trying to explain that I couldnât figure out why it was so much more expensive in store than online. He said he would have to compare his design against what I had done online. I told him they were very similar since I had tried to get him to match what I did myself at home. Again, he wouldnât listen to me and was rude.
I also needed grout and granite sealer. The guy helping me with the grout sealer was not great either. He told me because I didnât seal it before we used it, I ruined it and would have to redo all the grout. He said I should have done it 48 hours after it was done. What builder allows you to do anything to a home before closing?
Avoid Home Depot for appliances and in home services. Just use them to buy things off the shelf. Because of how they treated us, we bought our two washer/dryer pairs from Best Buy (we have an in-law suite) and will be using another company for our 6 custom closets and laundry room. Not a small...
Read moreTwo times visiting this Bothell location and both times I was harassed at the checkout stands about "not paying for everything". The first time I was holding a super old automatic gate arm (brought it in to look for new bolts and washers for it) and they kept on asking if I was going to pay for it (It was 10 years old, sun/weather worn and muddy - There's no way it looked like I just grabbed it off their shelves...plus it was 1/10th of the package that you would have to order online). Second time I walked up to the self checkout cashier (to avoid the same problem before) and scanned all items in front of her. After paying, she asks me if I paid for everything. I said yes and offered to show my receipt. She didn't say anything. I proceeded to walk out and she asked me again if I paid for everything! I asked what don't you think I paid for? She said "I don't know, I'm just asking if you paid for everything". I asked "What are you trying to get at?" She just stared at me blankly then said again "did you pay for everything?". I worked loss prevention when I had just gotten out of the military for about a year and made over 100 legitimate stops that actually recovered a store's assets - This was in no way just an employee protecting the store's assets. This was targeted harassment. When I asked for a manager, she said she could ask for one but it would take a while. She got the head cashier to come after about 10 min who then was trying to convince me not to make a formal complaint then she began questioning why I went to their location specifically! She had me wait at customer service while she looked for the manager. Over 20 min later, she came back with the assistant manager who then again tried to convince me not to file a complaint. Instead, she got my name and phone number and said she will talk to the cashier and see if she needs additional training. Another manager of another department overheard both my conversations with the head cashier and the store assistant manager and he said that was a very odd approach. He told me how to actually file a complaint (simply fill out the survey below on the receipt). He asked if he could help in any way and that he could give me pen and paper to write a formal complaint that he can hand to the actual manager as well. This proved the cashier, head cashier, and assistant manager were trying to cover up the cashier's problem and this approach makes me think that there is a systemic problem and not just a bad cashier...or just a bad head cashier...or just a bad assistant manager. My guess is that it was poor customer service training that would have been the assistant manager's fault and at least two underlings trying to protect the poor training they received. But then again, there's simply poor training...and their's corruption. This store is so far 0/2 for me while I've never ever been harassed at higher theft locations where I've been to literally hundreds of times; How does North Seattle, Tukwila, Issaquah, Bellevue, and even DT Seattle's (with a super high level of theft!) have better trained and friendlier workers...
Read moreI was at the Bothell Home Depot yesterday with my husband. I was looking for a double door deadbolt main entry hardware. There were 2 men working in that department. I asked if they can help me locate a dummy or inactive dead bolt lock most commonly used on double door entry. They had no idea what I was talking about. Then they said what I'm asking for doesn't exist! Then walked away! What I was looking for does exist. I know because that is what we have on our front door and told them so. However, it didnt matter to them and did not at least made the effort to find out. We had just painted the house and I was looking for deadbolt lock and handle replacements.
I looked on line and found it myself on homedepot.com. When I tried to check out I was told the item will be shipped to a store of my choosing for free delivery. However it won't be available for pick up till July 17 to 19. That is way too long to wait not to mention I have to pick it up when it gets to the store.
I looked on Amazon and found the same item, same price with a free 3 day delivery to my house. I decided to order it from Amazon instead.
I feel the men working at the Bothell Home Depot were not properly trained or equipt to answer questions in their department. Total lack of knowledge about the products they sell is one thing but the the lack of willingness to help me is inexcusable. I got frustrated and left. You lost a sale yesterday. It's not a big or expensive purchase so this may not matter to Home Depot's bottom line. It was only $129.99 and $117.99 for the set of hardware. However Home Depot won't be my go to store in the future.
A few years ago we did a home renovation. We went to Lowe's and end up buying everything from them. We bought all the kitchen cabinets and trims, all kitchen appliances and counter tops. We also bought a 7 foot bay window. Installation of our counter top was exceptionally good. One of the store managers treated us very well and handled all our concerns. He made sure everything was taken cared of including delivery and installation. There was that personal touch not to mention a 15% discount on just about everything we bought. I felt really well about our purchases and how we were treated. Our questions answered by...
