My boyfriend and I were browsing for furniture for our new apartment. The staff seemed friendly at first but then began showing us items the exact opposite of what we were asking for. We had to say we wanted chairs with cushions several times before they stopped showing us metal and wooden seats. During this, the lady helping us asked at least twice about our price range, stating that we were young and a lot of young people don't have much money. We assured her each time that we could afford it because we both have decent paying jobs, and that money wasn't as much of an issue as quality was. After this, we found a coffee table that we really liked for nearly $1500. On top of the table sat a selection of wood finishes to choose from. We asked her about getting it in one of these colors, and end tables to match. She asked another employee to check if the brand had end tables. She followed after the other employee, saying she needed to check something. We followed a few steps behind her, thinking she was going to show us a catalog. While waiting outside the office for her to return, we overheard her instruct the other employee to show us something comparable to the table, because we were "young and obviously couldn't afford a $1500 table." This is the point at which we decided to simply leave the store. I'm not sure if she didn't realize we had followed her and were waiting just outside the office, but it's still disrespctful to talk about your customers this way, even if you don't think they can hear you. This was an offensive stereotype against young people. As we had previously informed her, we could in fact afford the coffee table as well as the chairs we had been looking at. Even if we couldn't, it isn't her place to decide what we're allowed to look at because she assumes that we don't have the money for it based off of our appearance. We were prepared to purchase the coffee table, end tables, and chairs, but instead they lost a $2000+ sale due to rude...

Read moreHad a fantastic time working with BG Home Furnishings. Laura and Betty assisted with questions, but did not pressure a sale at all. They were definitely more focused on the education of the customer than simply taking the money and running. After deciding what to purchase, a delivery date was set. When that day came, all items were delivered in excellent condition and ahead of the promised time. Thank you for such an...
