Candle Makers on the Square — Local services in Bowling Green

More than just candles! I was specifically looking for a Kentucky Christmas ornament while my mom and I both love candles. This store seemed like the closest option after visiting the other lackluster shops around the Square.

We were immediately entranced by the hand-carved Christmas tree platters. Then there were multiple displays of Kentucky and Bowling Green ornaments. There was an extensive kitchen and home decor section. I found my Fountain on the Square ornament, painted wood.

THEN came the candles, in the back. We must have sniffed over two dozen candles. We each bought a medium size Kentucky Bourbon candle. Now, I'm usually strictly into sweeter candles like vanilla and ocean, but this one was special. $11 for the medium and sizes went from tea light to large mason jar.

I spent a wonderful afternoon with my granddaughters, ages 6 and 10, making jar candles at Candle Makers On the Square. Reservations for the private class were easily made with a phone call and I found that the folks at Candle Makers were quite accommodating with dates and times. Dawn Burgess was so helpful, patient, and encouraging as she led the three of us through the process of making our own candles. The hardest part was picking out our favorite scent. There are hundreds to choose from! We chose a scent, a color, and a name for our candles which were then put on a personalized label. A great gift idea for parents, teachers, and friends! Let me start out by giving a shout out to the amazing customer service. Staff is VERY knowledgeable on the products and the story of the product origin. Fantastic selection of candles that are made on site, by hand. Other than candles, they offer all Kentucky made goods and they try to stay within 100 miles of Bowling Green. I am a huge fan of buying locally made products. The craftsmanship was fantastic.
