The store itself is small with very little in the way of variety. Record selection is dismal at best with a lot of spots where a record is supposed to be, being empty. There is a couple of positives. They do have a wide variety of CDs with reasonable prices and even though I didn’t look at them, they had a larger amount of Blu-rays and DVDs. The largest issue is Matt himself. He has an extremely pretentious air about him. When you come into his store he acts like you are bothering him. He’s friendly with a select group of customer but everyone else he’s very dismissive, stand-offish, and rude. Forget about bringing anything in to sell. I took some records in and Matt spent the whole entire time speaking with another person for about an hour before he peaked into my bag (without looking through them) and told me he’s not interested. Mellow Matt’s has been my home away from home for many years now. Every time I walk in the store I am greeted with smiling faces. I will not step foot in another record store in Bowling Green other than Mellow Matt’s because I know the atmosphere of the store could never be as friendly as it is here. I have been lucky enough to get to know Matt over the ten years he has been in business and it has been a great ten years! I’m so lucky to call Matt and Kimberly part of my chosen family. This store has been my safe space, and my rock in the storm that is life. When I’m sad I go to Matt’s to see my friends, when I’m happy I go to Matt’s to see my friends. I was passing through Bowling Green, visiting the corvette museum when I did an online search for vinyl record stores. Mellow Matt's was the first one to grab my attention so I point my truck in their direction and boy was I NOT disappointed!! This is a great music store with an amazing vibe, helped by the music they were playing, which was all over the place but sooooo worked for me!! I spent about an hour perusing the collection and found some awesome hidden gems that have now been added to my collection! I also enjoyed the conversation I had with the young lady who was working there, she was friendly knowledgeable and just all around a joy to talk with!
