The initial purchase of my weapon from Sherwoods was amazing. Great customer service from the owner and everyone! Unfortunately it all goes downhill from there. The very next day I come back so that I may purchase some ammo (I was in a rush when I purchased my gun or I would have grabbed ammo with the purchase). I was informed by the asian gentleman that there was a one box per customer per day limit, which is no problem at all and fully understandable, and that I could come back once a day to get ammo. I informed the same gentleman that I would be back tomorrow to buy that exact same box of ammo and he said that was fine. The very next day comes, I go into Sherwoods and request a box of that specific ammo. I am told by the very same man who I dealt with the day before, that I could not buy that ammo even though he said the day before i could, not too upset at this point tbh. But then he takes it a step further and says that he can only sell that ammo with the sale of a new weapon.... which I had bought from him two days prior. I state that they sell me a gun and mags with a 51 round capacity but will only sell me 20 rounds? And that it is for my duty weapon for work. I am informed that there is "nothing we can do". Needless to say I am very disappointed in the level of customer care and integrity of this store and will most definitely be directing all of my colleges and friends away from...
Read moreI have had repeated bad interactions with this store. I once asked for a spec sheet for a bolt action rifle I was shopping around for and Mr. Sherwood only gave it to me after coercing me into affirming I didn't intend to take it to compare prices elsewhere. His daughter, who works the counter, is just plain incompetent. When I went in to buy a Trijicon ACOG she claimed they couldn't source it because it was a military/law-enforcement item only. It's fully available to the civilian market, but she sure seemed determined to turn away my business, and sure enough I bought one elsewhere.
My final straw was the other day when I called in to see if they had a specific holster in stock, or if they didn't to see if they could order it. The woman I spoke to refused to see if it could be ordered, only telling me to "check their website" and order it from there. It's almost like they are deliberately trying to turn away business, which is frustrating because I genuinely try to buy from small businesses instead of larger chains. I'm at the point now though where I refuse to call or step foot in this store again. Mammoth Outdoors actually seems to care about treating their customers right, and if they don't have what I need I'll drive somewhere out of town to get it because Mr. Sherwood isn't getting another...
Read moreTerrible experience. I got a weird vibe the moment I walked in (maybe it’s because of my long hair and tattoos.) Or it could just be what I’ve heard around town, very judgmental. Anyway, I picked out an gun ( it took me a while but, $500 is not chump change in my books.) The guy that was helping me passed me on to “Jerry” I started filling out the paperwork, he asked for my ID as well as a concealed carry. I gave him both. He asked if it was my current address, I said “No.” I had just recently moved to that address within the past month. Before I knew it he whipped my ID out, spun it around in my face, over the computer, and gave me a lecture about how I have “10” days to change the address on my license or if I got in a wreck the insurance company wouldn’t cover the damages or losses....this went on for a few second..... needless to say, I declined his offer of layaway. I was just wanting to purchase a rifle. Wonderful to know the facts, but in the end, there should be a better way of telling someone they need to change their address. Yes, it’s my fault for not reading the fine print on the back of my drivers license, but yet again who does? Moral of the story, don’t go into to Sherwood’s unless you’re clean cut, clean shaved, your ID says your current address, and you want...
