First of all, was I asked to write a review? Yes. Was I going to write this review regardless of being asked? Also yes. I’m writing this specifically because in passing I’ve heard on more than one occasion that it looks like this building pays people to write reviews (cmon…..)
Moving along… I have lived here for 5+ years and honestly? If you asked me to write this review a couple months ago to maybe even a year ago… I wouldn’t have had a single thing positive to say about this complex. A lot of that was due to my own personal situations and really just not putting forth the effort with my complaints/requests & expecting them to just know. And yes guys … they’re busy. Super busy. You might just have to pack a snack and endure the long journey down some hallways and perhaps an elevator to the office if your calls and emails are going unanswered — I promise you it’s not intentional by this staff. If you have an issue, be proactive about letting them know. If there is an issue, I promise you maintenance is on it. Caesar and Telley are proficient, efficient and very kind/caring individuals. They will get the job done.
That being said, I just re-signed my lease, and was even transferred to a different unit so I could have a change of scenery/reset and I could not be happier. Not just because of the unit change either. Yes, as most of you have noted… Management does tend to turnover and has done so quite often over the years and yes it is run by a corporate company and yes they’re are few units being used as air bnbs (big deal). But, I can confidently say that this current team is by far the best I have seen during my entire tenure here. Just in the last few months alone, the way the building is being maintained with upgrades and just the every day necessities for up keep is far above and beyond. You can tell this current team really gives a damn and it’s taking an aggressive initiative to address several of the repeated complaints seen posted on this platform. Which by the way… some are quite common being in a warm South Florida climate.
The housekeeper’s alone don’t get enough credit. They are literally the backbone of this building and ensure that its appearance is flawless every single day. Some of you said it’s embarrassing to bring people here? Do you mind posting photos of your apartments because I highly doubt it is as clean as the work these ladies that bust their asses daily to maintain the cleanliness of our community.
The property itself ? I’m sorry, but you can’t find anything cheaper that is as nice or as close as to the ocean as we are here in South Florida. Not Boca, definitely not Delray … it’s simply a hidden gem. Maybe you can by owner? But that in itself has a whole nature of pros and cons in itself. The amenities are great, the units themselves are great (but if you were expecting diamond countertops and heated floors maybe look into home buying? Some of these comments are wild y’all) it’s literally a 8 to 10 minute walk to the beach, you have several restaurants within walking distance, grocery stores, convenience stores.. everything you need is right here!
So yes, I would highly recommend 500 Ocean to anyone looking for a great apartment complex near the beach. Go see Carol or Miguel, our leasing agents in the office — you cannot go wrong with either one. They are simply the best we have ever had. They will guide you through every step of the way. And y’all give Miriam (property manager) a break … I’m sure she’s seeing double me even saying this …. But It’s a tough damn building to manage & especially when you’re dealing with people like I use to be with x1000 w/dumb complaints… as her time progresses here she’s really done a phenomenal job managing the building and I couldn’t be more proud of her resilience and drive for improving our homes.
& if you currently live here and are experiencing some issues ? Just try to communicate with them … give them a chance like I did…. I’m so happy...
Read moreGoing off of Abby’s review, this is 100% the truth. DO NOT MOVE INTO THIS PLACE!! Looks truly are deceiving. Lived here for about nine months now, and have not once gotten to take advantage of the amenities. The bowling alley is either broken.. or the person who lives above the bowling alley takes the bowling balls so nobody can play. All the amenities in leasing office are also either broken or cannot be used do to similar circumstances. The pool, gym, and grills get randomly shut down by management and now also have ridiculous rules that they expect us to follow.. “Not more than 2 people are allowed to use the grill per party.” The gyms cardio equipment is all broken.. I work on gym equipment and it is very obvious when they are making squealing noises louder than any music/headphones you could possibly have on. Nobody takes care of their animals.. I actually got tried with one of my amazing well trained pups due to a little dog not being on leash and going crazy like all the other little dogs here. The management team has the highest turn over rate ive ever seen... I can’t even trust anybody besides Jill who is a concierge and can only handle whats in her power. People are randomly trying to come into your apt every couple weeks.. fire alarms go off for 30+ mins while everyone is dead asleep and you get no notifications why... for all I know with all the stuff thats gone on the place is burning down. Water doesn’t get hot.. Ive even mentioned this to maintenance because my dishwasher wasn’t properly sanitizing my dishes. Hot water was out a few months ago for 72 total hours. Only security you have is a gate in garage which is left open half of the time. The doors to get into my own building have also been broken half the time and that leads to me not able to being let in.. This isn’t just a rant.. this also isn’t even half of the things ive dealt with in a measly 9 months here. I had much easier times renting from COLLEGE landlords. This place is an absolute joke. It’s also supposed to be a smoke free environment yet everyone is constantly smoking in the stair cases, garages, balconies, even in the damn building it seems like. Smells like pot and cigarettes all over the place. Don’t waste your time reaching out to corporate. The current regional manager is Penny who was a manager filling in for about six months here. My best advice.. check out Casa Costa and similar apartments near here.. they are closer to water and much cheaper and also normally include electric and wifi/cable. TAKE MY WORD OF ADVICE AND STAY AWAY!!! I will not be resigning and will also advocate my word on this company. Complete rip off. Would do 0 stars if that was an option. If youd like to live with a constant headache.. this will be the perfect place for you. Good luck! Construction is just starting up again around the north side of the building! Just walked outside my apartment to poop spread all over the 4th floor rugs. If I knew how to attach pictures they...
Read more03/22/2023: ** I write these positive reviews to attract folks interested in moving to 500 Ocean. I am NOT compensated in anyway for my reviews. If you want to live in a very nice building, with very nice amenities and some really good neighbors, old and new, this is your place. 500 Ocean is in a great location, the neighborhood is safe and accessible to all your needs. When you visit you’ll be welcomed by professional, competent management (GM “David” & Asst. Mngr. ”Vasti”) and leasing/resident services team (Justin, Jeff, Olivia). You may also notice building maintenance team members (Maintenance Supervisor “Cesar”, Maintenance Techs “Danny” & “Mia”, Grounds and Houskeeping “Jeffrey”, “Pedro” and “Jose”) doing an outstanding job, working to keep the building and grounds clean and in good repair. No neighborhood or apartment community is perfect. However, 500 Ocean has been a good place to live for us. Occasionally, residents move on and units become available to folks looking to move to 500 Ocean. If you want to live in a great apartment community with fun, kind, considerate neighbors, and you’re like minded, welcome!
Update 02/03/2023: I wanted to express some gratitude to Mia, Maintenance Technician. Mia has been a hard working, dedicated, reliable building maintenance staff member since 500 Ocean opened doors, 2017. Mia is the sole remaining OG at 500 Ocean. Quite a statement of commitment by Mia, in an ever changing industry with rapid staff turnover. Mia always has a pleasant aura and my wife and I appreciate the job she does and her presence at 500 Ocean. Thank you, Mia!
Fast forward (update from original review below): After residing at 500 Ocean for 3 1/2 yrs, we relocated for a year. We’re happy to be back at 500 Ocean. I was pleased to see Heather, who helped us through the administrative process smoothly and attentively. Justin our leasing agent was a new face to us and handled our application process pleasantly and professionally. Another plus was seeing our original leasing agent Rebecca from 2018, is now managing day to day operations at 500 Ocean. We look forward to reconnecting with friends and meeting new staff members.
We’ve lived at 500 Ocean for almost 2 years. Although the building has gone through some growing pains it’s a great apartment community to live in. The new manager Jill and the rest of the hard working 500 Ocean staff do a great job running and maintaining the residence. All of the wrinkles are being ironed out and the maintenance and management staff continue to work hard to keep 500 Ocean a great...
