Let me start off by saying I never write reviews but this dining experience was so horrid I just had to come and leave this review. We decided to try this place out after seeing how well-rated it was on here. It was very hot outside but sitting inside was not a consideration due to how cramped and messy it was in there. We stood around waiting under a lone tree for half an hour because the seating they had for waiting customers were all in the blazing sun. When we were finally seated, my friend ordered a mimosa, and I ordered a screwdriver. I’m pretty sure both were just glasses of OJ, as I didn’t taste even a slight hint of alcohol in either. We then ordered our food, all of us got breakfast (eggs, bacon, pancakes. Real simple stuff). Well not simple enough I guess because it took 45 minutes to an hour for our food to be served. And on top of that, our food was being served for 10 to 15 minutes. Yes, they brought out some plates, and then went back in for 5 minutes, then came out with more… so on and so forth. I mean it took them 10 minutes to get my friend a slice of toast. Maybe I would have let this slide if the food was even somewhat good but it wasn’t. My friend ordered over-medium eggs which weren’t fully cooked (gooey clear nonsense). The home fries were bland. The bacon clanked on my plate. The sausage was inedible, and that’s not an exaggeration. Just absolutely dreadful, worse than Jimmy Dean. They must have been freezer burnt 3 times over. My blueberry pancake was fine, but my friends pancakes were burnt. There were pubes in all of our meals (I’m not sure if they were actually pubes but looked like it). The consistency was just not there. The flavor was not there. I could have made a breakfast a million times better at home. Don’t know why I’d drive over here to wait around and be served prison food. And all the other parties looked unhappy as well. Truly truly terrible. One of our waiters (we had about three?) was very helpful though, and took about $20 off of our bill. But man, do not come here. No one should be subjected to this torture. I’m extremely confused as to why there are so many good reviews. Adios,...
Read moreUpdated review: So I have come here numerous times now. Pretty much wanting to like it. Its like I want to love this place but I am not digging it anymore. The service is consistently borderline terrible. Very low on the multitasking. Like they come out with the drink order and then ask you to wait a minute for them to get your food order. They almost never have silverware on the table and over 80% of the time you have to wait for them to bring you some after the food is there. Its a lot of shuffling and nothing is done in one swift action. The pancakes are routinely on the rubbery side and the waffles are consistently gritty. It takes a long time to get in and get out. I still feel that this place is an awesome place to be on a cool morning but its just not worth the aggravation any more. I hope they do well as the owner seems to be very nice and caring and opens her heart up to locals and friends for work but in the end, I want a great meal or I'd slop something together myself and eat on my patio.
Original review: I went here for the 1st time with my friend. I was impressed. I got a waffle and bacon. The bacon was great. The waffle tasted really good. It was very home made tasting. It was crowded inside. There was not much space inside. We sat outside and we were given plenty of attention. It is a great little place where the owner mingles about. Very nice and friendly. Very hometown feel. Went a second time and the waffle was awful. It was not sour/bad. It was just odd tasting. Grainy and just a plain bad taste. Its upsetting because now I am stuck wondering if this place is bad, but I got lucky the 1st time or if this place is good and I got...
Read moreWe drive by this place all the time and always thought it looked like a cute place, plus reviews looked decent so we finally stopped in today. The sign out front says self seating so we chose a table outside, waited a few minutes then our server came out with menus. The server had her airpods in her ears and barely even said hello to us then she proceeded to just stare at us without saying a word. We assumed she was waiting for drink orders so we asked for waters. It was a bit awkward of an interaction but no big deal.. She leaves for a moment, we start checking out the menus and by the time she came back we were ready to order. But before we could even get a word out to indicate we were ready, the server was already walking away to go back inside. The restaurant was not busy, there was one other woman sitting outside and as far as I could see the inside was nearly empty, so I doubt she was in a hurry to go check on another table or something. Regardless she barely spoke more than 3 words to us during the time we were sitting there. We decided after she walked away that we would go to our tried and true, The Bridge Café in Delray. If you are looking for GREAT customer service and awesome food, skip East Ocean and go check out Bridge Café instead.
This whole experience at East Ocean put a very bizarre taste in our mouths.. or maybe it was just the sink water we were served. Either way, we definitely won’t be back. Very...
