I've always been a big fan of Zippo products - their craftsmanship, reliability and iconic design are what drew me in. My brass Zippo, 12-hour hand warmer, Zippo pouch, portable fuel container and all my spare flints, wicks and fuel have been excellent. Every item arrived in perfect condition and has truly lived up to Zippo's legendary reputation.
However, my most recent purchase - the high polish Armour Elegant Green Dragon lighter - did leave me slightly underwhelmed. I went all out for one of the premium models, expecting something flawless. When I opened it, the inside appeared rusty and it was missing its flint. At first, I was concerned that I might have received a used item or that there was a lapse in quality control.
After doing some research, I learned that Zippo doesn't apply finishing to the inside of the lighter case - which explains the raw appearance. While I understand that this is standard practice, I do wish that for high-end or luxury designs like this one, Zippo would consider plating or finishing the interior as well.
It would elevate the overall impression and reflect the premium positioning of these special editions. I still have great trust in the Zippo brand and hope this feedback can be considered for future refinements. A little extra attention to detail on the inside would make their top-tier products even...
Read moreI had an unfortunate experience, having 2 Zippos confiscated at a German airport recently. To be fair, they did advised me to keep the cases, but removed the inside cartridges, after having traveled across Europe, and it appears Germany is the sticking point. However, (don’t you just love companies that keep promises), in steps Alicia, the Customer Representative at Zippo, and the disappointment of nearly having 2 sentimental value Zippos disappear, just evaporated. Professional, very prompt, understanding and so kind, she went to great lengths answering all my queries, and getting every detail needed to send me 2 new cartridges, (even matching the original steel finish). Within weeks I had my package, couriered from the US to my home in rural Portugal, and I was not even asked to cover the postage! Alicia, thank you. Zippo, thank you.
