Wow, what an awful experience our food was cold salad is served on a tiny tea cup saucer. When asking for a manager twice the associates asked me he wants to know why you want to talk to him first off there’s a gentleman that wears a hoodie( found out it’s the owner) obviously, there’s no manager that would work for someone like this guy. Therefore he has to be at the restaurant 24 seven because no one probably wants to work with the guy like this his uniform hoodie with a logo that says boss man, but could be mistaken as straggler from the street…. Broken nose looks like he just got out of the bar fight…. Table of six, and everyone returned their plate because it was lukewarm…. Heard so much about this establishment just to be severely disappointed with the lack of attention to detail and customer service. It’s a shame, establishments like this have ownership that can’t even learn how to put a Band-Aid on… I really wish I knew ownership would come in and buy this guy out. The moment I spoke to the gentleman over the phone after leaving quietly and calmly he told me that he knew the moment me and my family walked in that there is gonna be a problem mind you African-American, so how could you make that assumption that quickly? So if you’re African-American or any descent, that is not Caucasian, this is the stigma that you walk into beef eaters. As well, as there is a lot of water damage once you start looking up at the ceiling not the most pleasant experience while you’re eating. Threaten me and my family with the police because we decided to leave the establishment. said that we’re not welcome so I suggest anyone with any ethnicity even if you’re white or Caucasian consider yourself questionable coming in this establishment with your ethnic friends after reading this passage why would anyone want to be uncomfortable at a restaurant? I feel like this is 1875. The owner had the audacity to tell me how a lamb should be cooked when he’s not even a chef. If you ever been to mothers in Buffalo, or any other other states, that is the place to go to this place is not!!!!
I repeat saying you people are not welcomed here ( meaning black people ) referring to us as animals you will eat lamb however I prepare it. N...
Read moreWent for dinner while on a business trip. Two people in our party had been there before and spoke highly of the restaurant, so I was eager to see the old library and try the food. One person ordered Mahi Mahi and it was delicious, not over seasoned or over cooked. I had the special of liver and onions, haven't had liver and onions for years, and they cooked it just right, included broth to keep it moist. The garlic mashed potatoes were just ok, couldn't taste the garlic. They make their own bread products and the rolls were delicious! When we ordered dessert, we were amazed at the size of the ice cream puff - it would feed 3 people, but no one wanted to share with me as they all got their own dessert - strawberry shortcake and carrot cake. They reported their desserts were good. I was truly impressed with the building and how carefully the library was changed into a restaurant while keeping much of the old architecture. There's a lot of history on the walls and tables in the form of framed old newspaper clippings - fascinating. I will definitely go again, want to try some of the other dishes on the menu. Our waitress was superb, and engaged in conversation with each visit to our table. I was disappointed that I couldn't get a mojito from the bar, but that drink doesn't seem to be popular here in the north...
Read moreWe chose to stop here for dinner, on our way home from Kinzu state park. It was a Saturday, & we had reservations. We were intrigued by the building, & it did not disappoint. The place is very clean, & very cozy. The prices are very reasonable. The staff was very pleasant, however, they appeared to be short handed. We couldn't wait to try the devil's on horseback, & it did not disappoint! I'd take the hour 1/2 drive again, just for that! We all had a different soup, all very good. We all had a different dinner, which when it finally came, all 3 plates, the meat was cold/barely warm. My daughter had prime rib, that she said was cold. The turkey & salisbury steak, was warm, but that's probably because they were on the mashed potatoes, which were hot. The salisbury steak tasted delicious, but there wasn't any gravy, just the bit that was on them, from when they took it out of the pan. Had everything been warm, it would have been great. Had we not had reservations, I would have understood. Would I go back, to give them another try? Absolutely, if for no other reason than the devil's on horseback &...
