I stayed at this hotel last year around the same time. The experience was much different this time. Last time, I had nothing but great things to say about it. This time, not so much. Somehow I got booked into a smoking room. I do not smoke, as I have asthma as well. The hotel was booked solid, I had to stay in this room. I had requested an ozone machine that the front desk clerk said I could, but maintenance opted to use some deodorizer spray instead...so I had to go out and purchase my own sprays to spray pretty much daily to get rid of the smell of cigarette smoke in the room. This worked after a few days but I had to spray daily because anytime another guest smoked in their room, it traveled into mine. I didn't get housekeeping service one day despite leaving by 9:45. Speaking of leaving the room later, and this was the worse part of the experience, There is construction at the hotel currently. Had I known this, I would not have stayed there. I set my alarm every morning between 8:00 and 8:30, but some days I missed it because I'd be awoken to the sound of power tools and workmen talking loudly at 7am. They also stayed at the hotel (part of it's booking solid the time I was there, so couldn't change to a non smoking room). They parked their vehicles closest to the hotel, so I'd have to park further away. Wouldn't normally bother so much if it didn't rain most of the time I was there and had to cross a puddle filled parking lot. I just wasn't thrilled this time around, I'm not sure if I'll stay again in the future as my family is 30 minutes into New York, there are hotels and bed and breakfasts in the area, I may have to pay slightly more, but the cost of the expense of fuel will negate that. I will give a nod to Marybeth though, both times I've stayed here, she has been very friendly and accommodating as far as she can be. I'd go as far as saying she's the friendliest employee at the place and should be a manager if she...
Read moreThis place was silly. Thankfully we only spent 1 night. It was a abnormally warm fall weekend when we stayed and our room was an uncomfortable 76 degrees +. It felt like it was hotter but I believe the thermostat on the A/C unit only read up to 76, but that is besides the point. We complained because the room was very uncomfortable. The maintenance tech came up and replaced our wall air conditioner. Which would have been amazing customer service HAD THE UNIT ACTUALLY WORKED. Different unit, same exact problem. 2 units now, neither of them kicked cold air. Had the maintenance guy with a thermostat reader come up again and tried to tell us that after the unit runs an hour or so it’ll get colder, air coming out of the unit was only 70 degrees after about 45 minutes. We played this game for about 2 hours with final air temperature reading of like 66 degrees. Which was not sufficient enough to cool the room down. He tried to say that this is just the way it is on “this side of the hotel” that the rooms were just hotter on this side. I hate to think what it’s like in the summer months. We requested a different room at 11pm after playing around for hours and still being uncomfortable. They told us they were fully booked.... parking lot was DEAD. Hell, this whole town was dead. Maybe 10 cars in the whole lot. I really felt they didn’t want the inconvenience of moving us. Anywho, he tried to help us by giving us his bosses fan from their office. Said something about going out of his way and under normal circumstances wouldn’t have be able to.... for a fan? Lol Poor guy, he was nice and tried to help but this hotel sucks if they can’t even remedy a broken A/C unit and or move their guests to a new room due to the room being hot, unventilated and uncomfortable.
2 stars because I feel bad for the maintenance guy working for this place. Thank you for the fan! It made a world...
Read moreMy husband booked a suite for our weekend away. It was clean and spacious. The pillows for our bed were terrible though. I'm not sure how they are as hard as they were, but if you're able, bring your own.
On to their food service. We had dinner here the first night. We had the lounge to ourselves. The service was good, and the fish fry was decent. The fish was a little too crunchy, but tasted good. My only real complaint is the lima beans in the mixed veg!
We came down at 9:30 for breakfast, later than we had planned. There was no bacon and the eggs were overcooked & getting brown from sitting in the chaffing pan too long. Other than that it's your typical free breakfast buffet.
Our second night we ordered pizza from a place in town, and wanted to get a drink from the lounge. We went in there and there was no one around. We went to our room and called down. The server was really rude; it wasn't the same one from the night before bc she said she didn't work Saturdays. I asked if they had room service she said they didn't deliver alcohol. I said ok, and for the sake of time thought I'd order our drinks over the phone, so they would be ready when we got there. She got snappy with me, and said she was doing her last call at 9:40, and said again they don't deliver drinks. They're open until 10. We didn't bother getting drinks. If making money is an inconvenience for you, then you don't need my business.
Front desk staff and housekeeping staff were friendly and pleasant...
