Short:
I will not be buying suits or renting tuxedos from Men's Wearhouse in the future. I will also use my own personal tailor.
Long:
I've used Men's Wearhouse for tux rentals and for about 5 suits over the years. I've generally been pretty satisfied but not this time around. The staff at the Granite Street store wanted me in and out as quickly as possible which I'm all for. However, the level of service was inexperienced and all about the buck. It is very clear that the suit salesmen work on commission. Before I even tried on my suit he was lining up shirts and shoes. No biggy, the issue didn't really surface until I started trying things on.
The tuxedo I rented for my wedding was a slim fit. Slim fit clothing is not new by any measure. I was "measured" yet the sleeve length barely passed the middle of my forearm, about 3 inches shy of my wrist. I'm tall and skinny but the staff should know that slim fit shirts don't measure up the same. The length may be what you measured but if the fit of the shirt is going to pull the cuff back by over an inch an "expert" or staff that cares should know this. Perhaps it's just poor training. Lastly about a week before pickup I called to ask if I can change the tie color. The gentleman I spoke with wrote down all my info and my request and said he would call me back. Three days later I went for the final fitting to find that he did nothing with my information and obviously never called me back. Very unprofessional. The manager was very quick to tell me she never saw the message.
The suit. Without getting into the salesman's loss of energy once I told him I was limiting my purchase to the $800 suit and two $90 shirts (which again were the wrong size and I had to return/exchange), I like the fit of the pants but I am swimming in the jacket without enough time before my rehearsal dinner to have it fixed. Once again, very disappointed.
On the plus side, they were very willing to order my size in the same color/pattern shirts and have them ready for exchange when I picked up my suit/tux. Quality of the...
Read moreI went shopping at this location this morning to look for a suit for a wedding in June. I have never purchased a suit and really had little idea as to what would look good on me, what material I should get for a summer wedding, what sizes I needed for the dress shirt etc... yeah I am a bit of a fashion "hot mess". Anyway, the sales associate who helped me was AMAZING. His name was Fred and he was the nicest most knowledgeable salesman. I was in there not even an hour and he had me completely outfitted in a perfect suit, fitted and sent for alterations and for a good price. I am pretty shy too and have never felt comfortable looking at myself or having other people look at me to appraise me physically and Fred made all of that - from the trying on and looking to see what looked good, to measuring for alterations to picking out a tie - so comfortable and stress free and helped me to feel good about what I was trying on. And he trusted me to pick out what I liked but also was able to give great advice as to what might work a little better. And he got me what I wanted at a great sale price. The other salespeople even commented about what a great job he did shopping for me today and how good everything looked. And my girlfriend who was also there was amazed at how easy everything was as she knows how much I hate shopping for clothes. I don't think she had been looking forward to shopping with me any more than I was. So GREAT job Men's Wearhouse and to their sales staff - especially Fred. You really made what I thought would be a horrific process so much easier. Great job. Great...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, I would. Had the absolute WORST experience here yesterday. After being told to come on in with no appointment, by an employee we had been in contact with about suits for our wedding, we went in and were put on a waiting list- fine, I understand being busy. THEN a woman who knew nothing about our situation came over to ask âwhat we wantedâ showed her a picture of a suit in the color we want, without even looking into anything we were immediately asked how many men and if any were overweight..we said 6 total and they are all different sizes (wasnât sure how to respond to this question...) Then this employee told us it would be âimpossibleâ to get all of them in the same color suit if any were âtoo bigâ. Again- this was without looking into anything. I then told her I would prefer to wait and speak with the employee we have been dealing with for weeks, since I have never heard of such a thing and know of many groomsmen of all different sizes in the same suits for weddings they were in. We then stood there waiting for an hour while people after us on the list were helped. We finally walked out and I called a different location (Hanover) where the manager cut me off and said âwhatâs the point, why are you calling me?â I have never been so disgusted with an establishment and their customer service in my life!! Thankfully our groomsmen were not with us to hear that they were not willing to find comparable suits to accommodate people who may be larger than...
