Ethan Allen — Local services in Quincy

I've worked with Mary Lawlor from the Quincy store for several years. She has designed my family room and a second/bonus room in my home, as well as designed the reception area of my law firm and now my entire beach house in North Carolina. These projects involved not only furniture, but also carpets, area rugs, paint colors, custom made window treatments, and accent pieces.

Mary is wonderful to work with. She's very personable, takes the time to get to know your objectives for a room and your style (not hers) and delivers options and a final product that exceed your initial vision for a project.

In our recent project in the Outer Banks, she was able to work me and my local interior design team/contractor to ensure that the furniture and window treatments would fit in the space. I had reached out to several local furniture stores in the Outer Banks and while they were happy to sell me a sofa or sectional, not one would come out to measure or provide a computer design of the room that would confirm that the items would fit in the space. Mary (1) provided a computer generated design of the living room with all the furniture pieces so that I knew my custom ordered furniture were proportional and (2) worked with her Boston-based window treatment workroom to make sure the custom window treatments would again fit but also complement the overall design of the room. I would like to give a 5 star rating to the window treatment workroom and installer, Mary Hartley. Just like Mary Lawlor, Mary Hartley worked with me and the North Carolina team to create a beautiful beach house. Both Mary's go the extra mile! As an example, Ethan Allen does not sell paint, but Mary Lawlor picked out the paint colors for both my 1200 square foot office and my beach house in North Carolina. She worked closely with the local kitchen and bath designer and coordinated colors and fabrics based on tile, stone, and cabinets, and flooring chosen by the local North Carolina designer. The two different design teams worked very well together to ensure that the redesign was seamless.

I had been searching for a living room side chair for months. I wanted specific colors to compliment the decor and I was ready to settle with a pattern and a chair that I liked, but wasn’t crazy about. I knew that Ethan Allen had great quality. I have one of their chairs in that room already that I love. I saw some nice patterns online, but again, nothing that really jumped out at me. I noticed that they had another group of fabrics, which appeared to be geared towards curtains, maybe interior designers who were making things on their own. But, I looked through them. There were some beautiful patterns. I picked out a few that I thought would work. But, then I came across one that wowed me and the search was over. I just hoped it was possible to use it on a chair. I contacted customer service and reached Meghan Roberts in Quincy. She let me know that it absolutely could be used to upholster a chair and she, too thought it would be beautiful. She made the whole process, from deciding on the details to purchasing, a breeze. She explained it all every step of the way and she was a pleasure to work with. Meghan seems to really enjoy what she does. She’s enthusiastic and helpful, and in my experience, she appeared to genuinely be invested in making this an excellent transaction for me. It was. I had a great experience with designer Erin Woodbury located at the Quincy, MA store. I contacted and reached out for some help online, and I was pleasantly surprised with how quickly and efficiently she was able to provide me with feedback regarding my decisions and choices. All the while, Erin maintained confidence where it was lacking on my behalf, and was very complimentary of my existing space. Better yet, Erin was able to give me feedback from photos I had submitted to her for review. After such a professional and kind experience, I worked out some minor details and purchased the items discussed immediately.

As a consumer of fine quality items and furnishings, I am impressed with the level of details that Ethan Allen has gone through to ensure its customer base is extremely satisfied from start to finish. Truly, Erin and her effort has made an impact on my wife and I. We strongly believe that a passionate and kind workforce is the hallmark of a GREAT company. Job well done!
