â 1-Star Review
I am extremely disappointed with my motherâs recent experience at Hudsonâs Furniture. She is an elderly dialysis patient with cognitive challenges, and unfortunately, she felt pressured into purchasing furniture and additional protection plans by the salesperson. She also believed she would receive her furniture right after the New Year, only to find out later that a portion of the order isnât due to arrive until March.
When I contacted the store for clarification, I was told that the sales contract stated the March delivery date. However, after reviewing the contract myself, I do not see that clearly stated. The explanation given was that the ETA was written in a six-digit format that is not a standard date formatâsomething that would be difficult for anyone, let alone a disabled individual, to interpret.
Instead of receiving assistance, I encountered an unprofessional and combative response from the storeâs general manager, Lawrence. Rather than addressing my concerns with professionalism and empathy, he escalated the situation, became petty, and eventually turned outright threatening when discussing what he would do if I disputed the charge with American Express. This level of customer service is not what I expected from a brand like Hudsonâs.
To make matters worse, my mother did not even sign the paperwork herselfâthe person accompanying her did. Given the circumstances, she now feels misled and as though her money was taken under false pretenses.
All I wanted was to find a resolution that made my mother happy, but instead, every interaction with Hudsonâs Furniture has made the situation worse. I wanted to give the company an opportunity to make things right before pursuing further action, but the way this situation has been handled has only confirmed my concerns.
This was an incredibly disappointing and stressful experience, and I would caution anyoneâespecially elderly or vulnerable individualsâto think twice before shopping here. Customer service and integrity should be at the core of any business, and unfortunately, that was not my experience with Hudsonâs Furniture.
â âď¸Updated Review (2/8/25)
After communicating with Lisa, the Regional GM, I can say she was very professional and worked with us to reach a resolution that made my mom feel better about the situation. I appreciate her prompt attention and willingness to meet us in the middle. Thank you, Lisa.
However, when it comes to future business, my family will not be returning to Hudsonâs. Spending $6,000 on furniture only to be disrespected by Lawrence, who lacks basic customer service and communication skills, is unacceptable. No customer should have to go through that after making a major purchase. Hudsonâs may have quality furniture, but respect and professionalism matter...
Read moreI am so thrilled and happy with the service I received at Hudsonâs. The new staff there is like non-other. So friendly and they work together as a team. Now I must say the Gen. Mgr. Lawrence is what drew me back to Hudsonâs. He is very professional and looks out for the customers. I received great service from Justin. He was patient and made sure I was satisfied with me purchase. He assisted me with purchasing a new dining room set and chair. Great customer service.
Today is November 21, 2024, I'm adding to my review of Hudson's Furniture in Brandon, Fl. About 2 years ago we bought furniture from there and had issues. In August 2024, I went back to them to give them a try again, as stated because of the initial help I received from Lawrence. Well, after spending a lot of money on an expensive dining room set and lounge chair, I have had so many issues and problems with my order. Justin put the order in and said what I ordered was in stock. I didn't want any thing that they didn't have in stock because of the long delays I had two years ago getting my furniture. Well guess what, some of the items I bought ended up not being in stock. I waited over a month to two months to get the order corrected. I bought two arm chairs like the ones on display in the store, but as you can see in the pictures the arm chair that I received is totally a different chair. They delivered one chair, not two. So I cancelled the two arm chairs and replaced it with two side chairs. A big price difference in the chairs and I'm due a refund for that. It has been over three weeks and I am getting the run around about my money being refunded. Lawrence said he did his part and it's accounting, but I've worked in accounting and it doesn't take that long to put a credit back on someone's account. I am done and my business with Hudson's is over. If I even think about going back to Hudson's Furniture in Brandon, please nugde me.
Today is November 23, 2024 I want to give a big shout out to Josh, one of the manager at Hudsonâs. He went to work to make sure I got my refund. Within two days, I finally received my refund of $577.62...
Read moreOn November 9th 2023 we purchased a $4100 LeatherItalia living room set on sale from Hudson's Furniture in Brandon. It wasn't the set that we originally wanted as we were talked out of it by management because it would take 6-8 months to ship. We settled for the set we have because it was in stock and could be delivered right away. We also were discounted the delivery fee from $499 to $150. 3 weeks later on November 30th our set was delivered to our home and set up in the living room. Everything seemed fine at that point but one week later while looking for a lost remote we discovered large tears in 2 of the couch cushions where they were hidden from sight. Looking at the tears we thought that there was no way the delivery and set up guys didn't notice them while putting the couches together out of the boxes. My thought is that they were torn during set up and hidden from us because of the location of the damage. I immediately called Hudson's and explained the situation to them. After a brief conversation with customer service I was told that a repairman would come out to inspect the furniture and determine the best plan of action to be taken. Now in late December, a repairman showed up and looked at the damage and told us someone from his company would get back with me for an answer. I figured that the couch would be replaced but noooo. Hudson's refused to replace the couch and they want to put new leather covers on the back cushions. Well here it is almost Feb 2024 and we still have damaged goods and now material is falling out of the cushions. I would not recommend buying furniture from this company because of the way they have handled our purchase. We have lived in the Brandon area for 50 years and we have never been treated like this from a furniture company. I'm sorry Hudson's but you have totally disappointed my wife and I and we WILL NOT support your business any longer. This could have been avoided by you replacing the damaged couch from the very beginning. Hopefully one day we will be able to enjoy our BRAND NEW LIVING ROOM SET IF IT EVER GETS REPAIRED...
