Bolay Fresh Bold Kitchen - Brandon — Restaurant in Florida

I rarely leave reviews, especially unsavory ones, but this incident shouldn’t happen before closing time. So I went to this location on Thursday August 24th 2023, and I arrived at 8:49pm. When I went inside, I saw a couple inside (one of the two) a bit frustrated that there was not a lot of food, it was nighttime, so it made sense. However, I was astonished to see that an employee was making two VERY large bowls, filled with so much food the containers would not fit. They took so much food, and to my surprise, it was for themselves. I was very upset because I drove over 30 minutes away (and over 30 minutes back) to get this food, and there was hardly anything left. And from what I saw, it was apparently taken so the employees could feed themselves. The food they had taken was food I planned on buying (for instance, the shrimp was completely gone because they packed their bowls with shrimp). I wanted to receive my birthday bowl and to buy another bowl for my kid, but this location lost my money because of that. I understand the employees work hard, and they DEFINITELY deserve good, but I think it’s reasonable to do so after the restaurant is closed. When this place first opened up, we absolutely loved it...so much so we even told family to give us gift cards/e-gift certificates for Christmas so we could come here after busy work days. We have been so busy lately that we haven't come in for a couple of months. Came today and was excited to try some of the newer menu items. The food was AWFUL! First I noticed the price had definitely gone up. For 2 people we used to pay $36.00...today we paid $44.50. The food was subpar. We both got large bowls, one with noodles, steak & shrimp with potatoes and corn and the other bowl was noodles, shrimp and chicken with brussel sprouts and corn. The first bowl, the shrimp and potatoes were not thoroughly cooked and the steak was chewy and one piece even had a something hard in it and it lacked any type of flavor. The second bowl had the same problem with the shrimp and definitely lacked flavor. We also noticed that the staff all had attitudes and just didn't seem to care and definitely didn't want to be there or be bothered. When we used to go more often, the staff was our favorite part of going. They used to all be so nice and the manager would walk around and talk to everyone and make sure everything was OK. For Saturday brunch we were looking for a place to have healthy bowls. Since didn't had bowls from Bolay before we decided to have healthy bowls from Bolay. It was around 20 minutes from our place. Accessibility Bolay is in the prime spot in Brandon and apart from Bolay there are lot other stores so there is an open parking which is available and accessible for everyone. Ambiance Once we walked in we loved the ambiance and they had fresh food along with plant based food in their menu. It was a clean restaurant with the fresh decor. Food From the food we decided to order bowls. First bowl was the lemon chicken bowl with roasted corn along with fresh avocado, roasted potatoes and beans. The second bowl was the custom based bowl which included teriyaki chicken with spicy Thai shrimp with roasted corn, beans and cauliflower. The servers were amazing and added the food according to our requirements. The food was delicious plus the plant based food. We loved our food which was delicious along with the sauces.
