I just had a haircut with Lucy and was very unsatisfied. She was very friendly, but Iām not sure if she was new or just not experienced with more alternative styled haircuts because she seemed almost afraid to touch my hair. My hair is short with lots of layers but itās nothing too crazy. She barely cut off the dead ends and I told her wanted layers but she kept suggesting not to. She also seemed to not understand exactly how I wanted it styled even though I showed her pictures how I style it / cut it normally.
I was also told $45 on the phone for the service. I wasnāt aware that wash and blow dry are over $20 extra. Lucy offered so I assumed it came with the haircut. She also spent probably about 15 mins on my hair, and maybe 2 minutes attempting to cut it. I even kept trying to explain nicely and even showing reference pictures of how my hair normally is, but she seemed very unsure of what to do. If she wasnāt confident in cutting my hair in the style I asked I wouldāve preferred her to tell me that in the first place.
I also donāt understand the point in paying close to $70 if you arenāt spending much time or effort towards the service Iām paying for. The manager let me pay $45 because that is what I was told on the phone. Even though I was unhappy, I still payed, but came back shortly after to ask for a refund because there was zero difference in my hair. I asked the manager if I could have a refund and she told me I should go to Supercuts instead, which I thought was very disrespectful. I understand you need to pay for the service, but she spent about 15 minutes on my hair and attempted to cut it for 1 minute. Most of the appointment she spent washing and blow drying my hair vs actually cutting it. I wouldāve payed full price and a good tip if their was some effort put into my hair. I showed the manager the dead ends and that I wanted layers, and then she started getting really defensive, talking to me like I was stupid, and saying she didnāt see any when they were clearly there. Then she offered to cut it herself after still refusing to give me refund. At that point I just felt very uncomfortable because of her disrespectful attitude and comments.
I even had an appointment with Lauren here a few months and she did a really great job and was very friendly. I payed full price and gave a good tip because she put effort into my haircut. I told the manager my good experience with Lauren and she said āwell you shouldāve booked with her!ā in a very nasty tone. I explained to her that when I called I was told Lauren was completely booked, and I needed a haircut for a event Iām going to in a few days. I was going to keep coming back for haircuts by Lauren, but after being talked down to like that by the manager, I donāt feel welcome coming back...

She strives to put the clients hair needs and goals at top priority and you can tell she takes a lot of pride and joy in her work (as do I because I am always leaving salon epic feeling flawless and that I can conquer the world!) and she REALLY cares about her people and their lives.
Melissa also invests her love and energy into her people. She is always explaining the techniques to her clients and to any other stylist who wants to learn. She is building up those who work at salon epic and creating a culture of growth, support, and you can feel how much everyone really likes each other and coming to work when you are there.
You can tell a lot about someoneās character by the way the act when they donāt realize people are paying attention. Melissaās actions are constantly tried and true & she walks the walk by constantly goes above and beyond to support her team and the business and create relationships with customers that arenāt āhersā and more.
Melissa is magnetic and someone you just want to be around PLUS an insanely skilled artist! I can not recommend Melissa enough and I am so thankful salon...

Since the opening of Salon Epic, Iāve been going to Lauraās daughter, Melissa, who goes above and beyond for her clients just like her mom. I love my time there where each and every visit, every single employee is engaging and sweet and makes sure you are getting the best service possible. Iāve never left there without feeling even more beautiful than when I arrived and love the fact that every idea I have wanted to try out with my hair, Melissa is so supportive and creative to figure out how to not only deliver but do so with your hairās health in mind (seriously- my hair has never felt better than since I started going).
