Bullied out of this restaurant by an owner!?!? We have been in this restaurant several times over the past years. Our experience has always been mediocre however mediocre is better than being bullied! and bullied by an owner no less!
We really only go in for a quick glass of wine & after yesterday's experience we will NEVER go back. We sat at the bar near 4:30 pm. Everything seemed normal at first. Older distinguished looking couple to our right and a three men having cocktails on our left, a typical happy hour however it was not. The men on our left were being extremely loud & swearing. One of them walked back & forth from the hostess station, making it obvious he was an emplyee or owner. We were not going to say anything at first until the couple on our right expressed to us the same feeling, that they were uncomfortable from the men on our left and could not have their own conversation because of the boisterous behavior.
This being what we thought was a classy restaurant my husband asked the men to quiet down a bit. They pretty much told us to F^{K ourselves. My husband asked if they owned the joint since they were telling us our kind was not welcome there & the bartender reluctantly admitted that one of them was an owner.
One of the three men told us to "get the F^{K out" then when we left they followed us out to the street and yelled that he was calling the police to tell them we left without paying our tab. Shameful & adolescent behavior. This is hopefully our one & only experience like that. What we can control is that we will never be back!
Nick, no thank you for the double edged apology. With all of the false information you have fabricated for public viewing why apologize in the same write up?
The man better described as “boy” who told us to leave had stated “You don’t belong here... leave & I’ll pay your tab.” That’s when we had our fill and left. Hopefully he did pay the tab. The bartender had nothing to do with anything and was a delight and has been a delight in our other visits.
If you are the manager and you were there then why would you not speak up and say I am the manager here? If my husband was being so offensive and started the fight by asking them to quiet down why would you not say “I’m the manager” These questions are obviously rhetorical because the only thing you’ll come back with will be lies
We now know enough to never go into your establishment again. I believe from the tone of everything that has been involved that’s the way your restaurant runs. You should read up on the psychology behind why some people cannot admit when they’re wrong and would rather falsify information rather than self reflect and become a better person or business.
I went here with my mother and sister recently after a day at the spa. Delicious. We all had the "secret" cobb salad that was on the hidden menu. My mother and I had blackened chicken, my sister had grilled blackened shrimp. It was so good that this is now the salad I hold all other salads too in comparison. My only regret is that it isn't on the main menu and other patrons won't know of it's existence if they aren't lucky enough to be enlightened by the excellent wait staff. If you are brave enough to ask for an off menu item and are looking for a salad, THIS IS THE ONE!
Side note, if I am being COMPLETELY honest, the place had a bit of a strange smell about it. It was slightly over powering upon entering. We all noticed it and commented on it immediately after being sat. I don't know if it was the brick, the napkins, or just the smell of a dark damp room. Either way, we eventually got used to it. And the food was so good we forgot about it altogether. I'm only bringing it up to tell you not to let this...

After talking to my daughter who had ZERO idea where we’d ate the previous day she said “Oh yea I forgot to tell you guys! ((Kids name)) Got food poisoning really bad from this place in Branford called like, cozy pasta or something and that’s why he’s not here tonight!” His experience was just like mine— throwing up everything I drank or ate for approx 6 hours unable to keep anything even water down. Side note: I actually loved the dish taste-wise (classic spaghetti*) Also l ate all of it but I’m 99.999% sure something was stored incorrectly somewhere or labeled wrong date-wise. I later found out my teenager’s friend and I had the exact same dish as I did on the exact same day...
