February 22 we took our laptop here due to the battery would not charge. We were told it needed a new battery and would take a week for it to come in and they would call us. We called a week later after not receiving a text or phone home call. The battery was in. During installation the owner told us Dell sent them a defective battery and would order another one. He stated he would text or call us. Neither happened. The following week we call and the 2nd battery was in. During installation the computer would turn on, but not charge. The owner stayed the issue was the charging port and he would order it, and text or call us when it was in Again neither or those occurred. We called the next week and was told that it was not the charging port, and it’s probably a chip that shorted and needed to be replaced and they would need to send it out to their repair tech. When asked, the owner informed us their tech person is in New York, and would know the following week the diagnosis. We were promise again a phone call or text. Followed up the next week, to be informed it was the chip but it was on back order. I asked for to an estimate date for when the part would be in and the owner stated he would contact the tech in NY. Called the next week with the same question and was told again that they had not heard back from the NY tech guy and he (the owner) would contact him. March 27 we get a text message from the owner that they could not fix our laptop, we needed a new one and to come pick up the broken one. That evening, the owner explained that their tech tried replacing 3-4 chips but there is a short somewhere and they don’t know where. What is interesting our laptop would power up and we would log in, but would not charge. Now that we have the computer back, it won’t power up at all. I took it to Best Buy’s Geek Squad for a second opinion the evening of March 27. Jason at Geek Squad gave us more information. They could confirm that the computer had been worked on, no burnt out chips, a protective cover piece was missing. They determined for us that the hard drive needed to be replaced and could not retrieve any files. They shared to replaced the motherboard could be $500 or more. Cost for the second opinion was $0.00. Cost with the Tech Team, $50.00 deposit and $10.00 refunded since they could not fix it. One star review given due to poor communication. The owner should never promise anything that they cannot deliver. I understand that it was a step by step process to diagnose, but it shouldn’t take...
Read moreI cannot say enough good things about my experience! My tech was friendly and cheerful, as well as an expert at how to get around the difficulties an old android phone was giving us. He solved my problem and did so with a smile (and a hefty dose of patience with an old device!). Highly recommended; I'll be going back any time I have a phone problem!
Update: We've had two additional visits since my first review on two other phones. In one case the tech lost a part during the repair, causing delays. In the other, I was told to come in at a certain time to pick up a part and no one was there (during regular store hours). The resulting fix of a camera lens hasn't been optimal; the new lens has caused washed out lighting...
Read moreThe Tech Team in Branford has been exceptional, the service and quality of work was incomparable. My MacBook was running incredibly slow and I had a crack on my iPhone screen, it was one of those things where I just wanted to get two things done at once and that’s what the tech team did. Shizzy really took care of all of my needs, my MacBook Pro was working up to speed and my iPhone was returned like new, and they even quoted LESS than HALF of what Apple was charging me with a quicker completion time!! These guys are...
