Fired Up — Local services in Branford

It is truly unfortunate that small businesses continue to lose customers due to owners hiring employees who clearly aren’t qualified to represent their business. I made a reservation for myself and two friends to celebrate a birthday, with plans to arrive at 5 p.m. Unfortunately, our day didn’t go as scheduled, and we didn’t arrive until 5:53 p.m., now with only two people instead of three.

When we walked in, two young ladies were at the front desk. I explained that we had a 5 p.m. reservation, but due to delays, we missed it. However, we were still eager to paint a piece and asked if we could still participate. One of the young women immediately responded, “I’m sorry, we don’t take walk-ins an hour before closing.” This response was particularly frustrating, as their website clearly states, “The last seating is 1 hour prior to closing.” I then asked, “Even if we just do something small?” To which she curtly replied, “Well, you can, but at 7 p.m. I’m kicking you out whether you’re done or not, because I’m leaving then.”

At that point, my friend, whose birthday it was, said, “It’s clear they don’t want us here. We should just leave.” And so, we did. The entire experience left us feeling unwelcome and disrespected. It’s disheartening when a business, especially one that should be celebrating creativity and fun, treats customers with such disregard. Fired Up! Is the absolute best place to go to unwind after a stressful week. Get your paint on, listen to tunes, chat, and have an AMAZING staff help you out. Especially Maeve! (Hope I spelled that right.) She goes out of her way to make both 1st and many time visiting adults as well as nervous children comfortable. Fired Up! has made the COVID months less stressful by safely opening, allowing distance between groups, and keeping things clean. Fired-Up has a super-sized collection of raw (unfired) ceramics, and hundreds of colors so you can create your own (fill-in the blank) &/or gifts for others.
