We love Chateau Elan. We make it a point to stop by if we're traveling along the I-85 corridor in/out of Atlanta. The grounds are lovely, the wine is tasty, the atmosphere is elegant. This trip was just a quick stop as we were passing by to purchase some more wine for our at-home collection.
Well then why not five stars, right? Well, I am a bit disappointed that their price for a tasting has gotten so high. Current pricing included only one tasting option for $55 per person - allowing you to taste 7 wines. That seems quite steep to me for just a tasting. Alternatively you can purchase by the glass.
I can appreciate that the location is elegant and romantic, but when we're there to buy the wines in their collection that run $15/bottle, $55 for a taste x 7 - well - that's a bit outrageous.
Some of their bottles of reds run about double that+, but averaging out the wines available for tasting, the price of the tasting seemed overkill.
Chateau Elan - we love you & the wines - but perhaps consider some other options. We were just looking to refresh our memory on which varieties we wanted to purchase, not spend an extended time lavishing in a wine-tasting as its own activity. We were also buying 12 bottles, so maybe even having an option that puts the cost of the tasting toward the a bundled-quantity purchase would be...
Read moreMy wife and I stayed at the hotel, and it was very nice. We purchased a couples spa package which was very relaxing. We did have a small issue with a lunch reservation after our massages not being booked like we were told it was. Instead of accommodating us, we were told that we could either eat at Paddy's (an onsite Irish pub) or order room service (our reservation was for the same time that the restaurant closed). My wife was pretty disappointed that we couldn't eat there like we thought we'd be able to, so we ate at an area restaurant. Apart from that, we had a very nice time. Nothing there is inexpensive, so keep that in mind when you're planning...
Read moreThis place is beautiful and serene. The room was nice and the food was delicious. My only complaint is that we were told we would not need a reservation for dinner and when we got down to the restaurant they said they were full and we had to come back an hour later. People were coming there just to dine and I felt like guests that were actually staying in the hotel should have taken precedence over walk in guests. Otherwise beautiful and a wonderful little hidden gem. We will return and hopefully enjoy some of the spa on...
