I ignore the fact that nobody at this location is EVER very friendly because it is a pawn shop and pawn shop attendants are often rude but after today I know this pawn shop broke the mold. Several I found a 30.00 Coleman tent here. I was headed to buy a new tent so this seemed like fate. I asked the employee if everything was in the bag and after she assured me that "yes, we make everyone set the tents up when they bring them in" I made the purchase. So here I am..myself, my husband and 5 kids are ready for our Easter camping trip when we find OUR TENT HAS NO POLES. So I call, upset that I was lied to. I told the lady claiming to be the manager what happened and her response was treat me as if I were nothing of a bother. She finally looks up my purchase and then offers me my money back. Then she proceeds to tell me that it was not the fault of her employees and that someone MUST have stolen the 8 tent poles. I told her that seemed a little unlikely as the tent was on a shelf right in front of the check out counter and if someone stole 8 poles she needed to educate her employees in loss prevention or point the finger at them. After which she got really defensive and her offer of money back turned into store credit. Well...I did not buy the tent on store credit and they were the ones who sold me a tent without poles. But she refused my refund because "I don't like that you are accusing my employees of stealing." Finally I asked to speak to the owners but she refused to give me their contact information. So here I am..leaving a negative review because this place robbed me of my 30 bucks. Why should I have store credit for a store that will NEVER see a dime from me ever again? Why should I have it at all, they are the ones who were deceitful in the sale of the merchandise! Never again...and I will make sure all who will listen (ie:friends, family, strangers, fans of my novels) stay clear...
Read moreThere is a reason this place is 4.9 out of 5 stars. This is not your run of the mill pawn shop. I've never purchased from a pawn shop before and was nervous bidding on an item offered online, knowing it said "in person pickup only" and knowing I live nowhere close enough to be able to do that. I bid, but in the comments leave a quick note asking them to contact me. Shockingly, THEY DO. The NICEST person calls me and said we'd be happy to ship it to you, at my expense of course, but still. She took 5 dollars off of MY offer before she would accept the sale. Like, wait, isn't that the opposite of what a business is supposed to do? She ships the thing in record time and it has arrived in great condition, only missing one tiny little thing that I won't even be using in my installation, and packaged well enough that it could have survived a plane crash. Oh yea, did I mention that she had the patience of a saint, being willing to wait for me to pay for this item because my credit card number was stolen and my card shut down and I wouldn't be home for 2 weeks to get the new card? Oh yea, and shipped to an alternate address because someone ran over my mailbox a day after I placed the bid online and 2 days before she accepted the bid? EVERYTHING went wrong for me, and she STILL worked with me more than anyone could ask for. Christina is a blessing to the Brazoria location. I can't speak for any other location, but...
Read moreWe are from the area, so if we are looking for a good deal we know we can stop in to one of the Tom's Pawn shops. We were driving through Brazoria the other day, and having never visited this location we decided to stop in, and just check out what they had. I have to give a shout out to one of the girls there, Jessica. It's people like her that will bring you back into a certain location. She was able to answer all my questions, about everything I looked at. She was very knowledgeable about the items in the store. She was very friendly and there was no pressure to 'just buy something or leave,' unfortunately sometimes that is the case, but not here. I have to mention that there was an incident that could have escalated rather quickly with an inpatient and very rude customer. Jessica excused herself from us and extinguished the situation quickly, calmly, and very professionally. The customer left with a good attitude. It was very impressive. All the employees were very friendly and seemed eager to help, which made a very nice environment. We finally made our purchase, and thanked Jessica for all the help. Although we live in Lake Jackson and have a Tom's Pawn down the road, I would not hesitate to return to the Brazoria location the next time I'm looking for a certain item, or just looking for good reasonably...
