This Ashley Stewart was one of my favorite shopping stores. I have shopped with A.S. in Illinois since 1991. However, in 2004, the Store Chain altered hands and the quality of the merchandise dropped. When the new owner took over the chain, clothing diminished in value and the quality of the customer service vanished. If you’re spending money each time you are there and return your clothing to where you made your purchases, then yes, that may treat you okay. However, do not try to return clothing here from another store. This store manager went out of her way to “Lie” and tell me that the other store had made a mistake on my sale, overcharged me, and therefore she could return the merchandise. What!!!!! If you go to that extend to avoid a return and, “Not to except one dress,” then you are petty-minded. The manager actually told me to go back to the other store and return the item because they made a mistake of your purchase. Keep in mind that she knows me and I have shopped there for years. It is all based on the amount of sales at the end of the night, but you can’t have a lost of $34.00, wow, that’s awful. In the end, it was all a lie to avoid the return. I thought, are you kidding me!! I have spent thousands of dollars here and other stores in Illinois, but now all the managers seem to care about is the sale! No matter how much you spend, true genuine customer satisfaction is never there! Now, I never shop Ashley Stewart Stores in Illinois, I go to Indiana and others states where the manager and the sales representative are extremely nice. Believe it or not they have a better selection in their stores as well. Many of their clothing’s are different. If you are having trouble with good customer service, and the quality of their clothing try Indiana or other states you...
Read moreLast Sunday I had some items for return and since this store is the closest in my area I went to return my items here. I made sure to read the Ashley Stewart website policy to make sure I was in compliance and indeed was. The sales associate handling my return told me they don't accept returns if it's $200 or more. I stated that's not what AS policy on the website states and if that is policy it should be updated on the website. After scanning my items for return she said it was $197 but that she still needed to call to get approval. Not sure if it was the store manager/owner. Fine but I'm irritated at this point because why is this even a process when it's not posted on the AS website? The sales associate comes back and says okay I can complete your refund this time given the distance you drove. My refund was completed and I thanked the associate who was never rude However, Ashley Stewart why are stores allowed to come up with their own rules that don't align to what's stated on your website or receipt? I'm not sure if this due to the refund being processed in the store and the store taking a loss given it was an online order but what I do know is I felt targeted and WILL NOT patronize this location again!!! Understanding theft and scams are at an all time high, this was not my case. I was simply returning items ordered online that were not online exclusives that...
Read moreI usually visit Ashley Stewart store in 159th Street Canterbury mall. Generally, I can find something cute and reasonally priced. However since Covid-19 the rules are you have to call ahead to ask to be given an appt. However as I've observed the store has been empty or near that. The Ashley store would only have a few customers at first then the customers w/o apts. Were made to wait outside the front doors but as it became apparent that the appts were late!!! Or the appts were just not coming. So the Ashley staff were then allowing customers inside to shop to get THAT Sales quoter. This happened to me twice. My belief is that If I'm a cash paying reg. customer it should always be first come first come and not just based on a customer's telephone call to patronize a store. H##l that staff know who are regular Customers and not. Then there's the silly rule Re: no try on for getting a hint that it fits. But if I take It HOME n it does not work out for me. Guess who'd be outside again kicking and knocking on the door to get back into the...
