Disappointed, Hopeful, Elated, Moved, Grateful. All with in about a 5 minute span. When we walked we told the supper nice women behind the desk (Crystal ) that we had made reservations for ice-skating open to the public. She then had to tell us that they had closed it early. Now, It was my son's 4th birthday yesterday and all he wanted to do was go ice-skating. I did HOURS of research & picked Wonderland of Ice for many reasons. The price and distance were both factors but also, they had to best options for times. I had also called the day before to confirm the times and they our reservations were all set. They were & I had the correct time. So I knew I had not messed up. My son was very upset so my husbands took him outside to get him to calm down while I stayed inside and was talking to Krystal & Jeff (Jeff helps with the Ice-skates) I was trying to find somewhere else, ANYWHERE ELSE really. At this point distance and the price just were what they were. Jeff was nice enough to give me a free pass for admission for 1 to another place that my husband said we can go to. But after talking to Crystal and Jeff for a few minutes Jeff had suggested the back rink for us. It was smaller and not PERFECR but I really didn't care. They each made a phone call to get permission they made it happen for my son. we got there a little before 2pm. They told us that we would have till 2:45 which was the PERFECT amount of time for us. We knew our son most likely wouldn't last much longer than that. Jeff took us to get our skates & showed us where we would be. He was then kind enough to bring us this really cute dolphin shaped sled thing that my son can sit on and we could push him around the ice on. It helped a LOT!! He would NOT have lasted the entire time on the ice without it. He is 4, and never been before, he didn't have very god balance at all & we were holding his hands. So after about 5-10 min i suggested to Delphine and he LOVE LOVE LOVED IT!! It was a HUGE success and he LOVES being pushed/pulled in ay kind of cart or wagon or slay. So we were able to nave a BLAST! It was a HUGE hit & a total success ALL thanks to Crystal & Jeff. With out there kindness and quick thinking we would have had to leave and my son would have been heart broken & mad at either me &/or his dad (my husband). I can not thank Crystal & Jeff enough honestly. They truly went above and beyond to help me make it happen. With the way the world is right now, it's not like he is getting a party so this was it. so THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to Crystal & Jeff and we will MOST DEFFINETLY be going back thanks to them. Had we not been able to skate yesterday we would never gone back b/c our 1st and only experience with Wonderland Of Ice would have been horrible. Thanks to them it was NOT, they made my son's birthday a HUGE success & I am eternally grateful to...
Read moreWhat a pleasure it is to come to the Wonderland of Ice for my Sons hockey games. We live in Shelton and The Rinks is where he played for years but the atmosphere at The Rinks is very uneasy and they are more focused on the money and also play the kids with the most talent more than other kids. At The Wonderland of Ice it's all about the kids and equal ice time regardless of skill. Very family oriented and the staff and the owners are very friendly and helpful. There are 2 full size Rinks here just like in Shelton, only not one on top of the other. I must say that if your son or daughter plays hockey or any ice skating activity then you will enjoy it much more at The Wonderland of Ice. There is a Hockey Store inside and they only charge $5 to sharpen skates. ($10+ in Shelton). I love the old fashioned feel of the Wonderland of Ice where there is memorabilia everywhere from past local NHL stars like Chris Drury and his brother to Fairfield Prep trophies and just hockey stuff everywhere. I love coming here and next year my son will try out for the travel team. You will immediately love it here if you are coming from the Rinks in Shelton or if you have never been to either one of the Rinks. Wonderful of Ice is flat out the best local hockey arena...
Read moreMy 8 year old is taking lessons to learn how to skate with the intention of him taking a learn to play hockey course. The first few weeks his instructor was changed every class. When that happened each instructor would have different teaching styles. My son was confused on what was expected of him. I can tell that he was not focusing and interested as he was for the first lesson. When I voiced it to the director she said they are short staffed but I always saw the same instructors there every week. Then the canceling of lessons began and when I voiced that it is inconvenience to me and my schedule to do another day she said she could not refund me my money for what has been about 4 lessons out of the 9 that have been pushed back another Sunday. Then a few days after that encounter with her she again sends another email stating that Sunday lessons will need to be pushed back again. I have called twice and left messages to speak to someone in charge because I am not happy with the service. I was told the application says there will be no refunds and I understand that but the application had specific days for lessons and did not say that half of my sons lessons would be...
