This is a mixed review only because of one bad experience I had. I still give 5 stars because the wonderful staff, which is probably 95% of the staff, is overwhelmingly friendly and helpful. I live close by so this store is my go to, usually in the evening. I once must have dropped my wallet and one of the fellas from the front end sought me out while I was still shopping just to return it to me! He said he thought it was mine! This is how much attention the staff pays to their regulars! Very, very impressive. The evening shift staff is exemplary! Can't say enough about how kind and helpful they really are. I once was paying at self register, buying pet items my friend sent me in for and she was over a dollar short, and I was digging in my purse to try to cover it....meanwhile, I believe he was some type of managerial position, this man was ringing out his dinner probably, and before I knew it, he just non chalantly put money in for me! Didn't say a word, very humble and kind! Outstanding! Please be proud of your evening shift! Now my bad experience happened during the day. I had a large order, and two older women, one bagging, one ringing, were taking care of me. I could see their eyebrows raising as they rang up a bag of shrimp, and a couple of steaks. They were very friendly up until it was time to pay, and I produced an EBT card to cover some of the cost. Wow, were they RUDE after that...making comments right in my face! Saying "oh yeah, its the beginning of the month" and rolling their eyes. I can't remember exactly their conversation, but it definitely implied that I was a lowlife. I am retired now but I was a hard working nurse for 30+ years, and the ebt card is because I have custody of my grandson and was given the ebt card to off set expenses! How dare they! Working in medical field, you have to be very customer oriented. I would have been fired if I spoke like that in front of one of my patients! I wonder, do you offer team building and customer service in services to your staff? Some of them could use it! This is why I prefer to shop in...
Read moreFirst, don't believe the "local guide" reviews here; they are always from people outside the area who obviously have not been here and are collecting Google rewards points. I went shopping here today because it's the only food store in my area that accepts United Healthcare Plus UCard "Healthy Foods" allowance. My brother gets 48 dollars a month to spend on groceries. Today I filled up my cart and found I could not use his card in a regular aisle that turned out to be self checkout even though it was not in the new self checkout area. The attendant has to put the card through but when she got there she told me I had to take my receipt to a regular checkout, they would scan the receipt and accept my payment. Nope. Turns out their system is broken and has been unable to process these types of insurance benefits cards for three days. No Sign. No nothing. No sorry, no apology, plus she lost my receipt. So even though I paid for my brother's full bill myself, I left with no receipt. She seemed to think it was funny and showed me her chewing gum. What a fiasco. Bye forever Stop and Shop Bristol. You obviously don't care about your customers, just raking in the post pandemic price gouge. Oh and the whole produce department smelled of rotten citrus fruit....
Read moreThe first time I went there, there was an older lady at the register who seemed as if she was very miserable and didn't even bother to help me bag all my groceries I had, as if she assumed that I had to do them all by myself when I had $200 + dollars in food to bag, it made me feel like I should have picked the self help aisle due to her showing customers how bad of a mood she was in. You could just hear it in her voice as if she didn't want to work. HOWEVER, I decided to give it another chance and go back to see how my experience would be for the second time. Boy!! What a HUGE difference in customer service than before. I don't want to mention the guys name, however, this guy who just started working there five days ago was the most helpful I have ever seen. He offered to bag all my groceries, and offered to place some of the heavy food underneath my carriage for me. He was also very nice and he had a cheerful attitude. He is a great example of what all employees at stop & shop should be like. Because of him, I will continue to spend my money at this particular location, and give it a five stars. Thank you for changing my...
