S&S Stores as a Brand & Company has spiraled downward in past 5 years. Pine St, Bristol location is no exception - consistent cleanliness issues, out of stock items, poor produce quality, limited fresh seafood & deli products, and checkout is slow due to union required staffing & breaksā¦no matter how long lines are. Experience yesterday was nail in the coffin: Stood at Deli counter in front of (2) employees, not acknowledged, as lone customer as they chatted & worked. Asked if I had a ādeli ticketā?, me āno, Iām the only one standing here.ā, her āYou need a ticket, otherwise next customer jumps ahead of you,ā, me āthatās stupidā her āwell thatās the way things workā., me āIn this time youāve been unhelpful and rude, you couldāve been halfway done with my order.ā I wanted to put her head through the meat slicer! (She ignored me, young kid proceeded to take my simple request of 1/2 lb of S&S Muenster Cheese, butā¦.they didnāt have any!!ā¦so had to pay much more for Boarās Head brand - not better tasting, youāre just paying for their marketing). Ā Ā Ā Read moreOrdered for online pickup of my groceries on Saturdat to pick up on Sunday and showed up on time at 12pm for my pick up order. Waited on hold for 20min for my order to simply be looked up and finally spoke with someone who had the wrong name. When she looked up my name, she said my order was not going to be ready until 2pm. I clearly can't just wait around for 2pm to pick up my order as I have plans and a life outside of grocery shopping. Had to cancel order and go without my groceries.... A shame. Prior to this experience, I was holding my tongue on another order that was supposed to be delivered to my home on a Saturday morning some time in the last few months (from the same store). They delivered to the wrong house and kept telling me it was delivered (on the app, email, over the phone). I finally called someone from customer service and they were the ones who told me the groceries has been delivered to someone else's house. No idea where or who had them. The driver was "off duty" and no one could tell me where the food had gone. It was over 100 dollars of groceries..disappeared. Ā Ā Ā Read moreAbout 2 years ago I was in this Stop & Shop. I had an automatic deposit of $4,000.00 into my checking account which my bank told me had cleared. I had a $200.00 food order and went to check out it it wouldn't clear. I called the bank and was told everything was good and to try it again. Didn't work. I asked the manager to put my groceries in the meat refrigerator and I would be back 1st thing in the morning with cash. She said not to worry and paid for my food order out of her own pocket. I thanked her and came back the next day to pay her back. She said that was unnecessary and for me to PAY IT FORWARD. WHICH I DID. I CAN'T THANK HER ENOUGH FOR HER WONDERFUL GENEROSITY. When I worked for Stop & Shop many years ago the manager did the same thing for a poor woman with six kids to pay for her food completely every time she came into the store . It's GOOD TO SEE A COPANY THAT THINKS OF HELPING PEOPLE THAT NEED IT WITHOUT THOUGHT TO THEMSELVES. My Main regret is that I didn't become a Store Manager for them when they asked me when I was 18 years old after I worked for them since I was 16..
