The closing staff is extremely Unprofessional. The entire time they complained about their jobs, and how they were short staffed. I totally understand the staff shortages, but it has nothing to do with the customers. When I came to check out, they had closed the one check out lane that was available ( I think someone had to go on break and they didn’t have enough people to cover it ) . I understand that as well, but an older female whispered to another work while I was at self check out, “ that girl right there is ringing up like two hundred dollars worth of stuff . “ Um, yeah because none of you decided to get a fresh register to cover that person’s break, so everyone had to go to self check out. While i was checking out, an employee actually came up to me and basically said, “ your just now checking out ? “ I do not know this person at all. I just smiled weakly and said “ yes. “ He shook his head at me, and joined the other workers who were just complaining about their jobs, talking trash about their managers, and how one person walked out. Again, I understand there are staff shortages but they were just completely disrespectful, unprofessional and I literally listened to them talk about customers. And when I was at the fruit and vegetable section, there were two young male employees playing around unnecessarily touching all the melons saying, “ man I’ll throw this watermelon at ya head boy . “ Just playing around customers. I used to be a manager and dealt with staff shortages and i understand the frustration, but it was just completely unprofessional. And to put the icing on the cake, when I finally finished at self check out, a customer came after me with much, much fewer groceries and the one employee, a heavy set woman said to her, “ I can take you at that lane. “ I left there frustrated, and all I kept saying to myself was “ I should of went to Giants. “ They are a tad bit more expensive but it’s worth not having to deal with the closing staff at this Shoprite. If you hate your job that much, and despise your managers that...
Read moreOn Sunday evening, approx. 8:15 pm, my 81 yr old lady friend left church and decided to stop at ShopRite in Brookhavento pick up half & half. BEFORE leaving the store, she was approached by a woman who said she carried bags.out for people needing assistance. This woman literally moved so close to my elderly lady friend, that it may have appeared as though she was assisting my friend to her car. When at the car, this complete stranger told my friend, "Unlock the door!" The stranger then hopped in the backseat and told the old woman. to, "Now, drive!" My lady friend was terrified and did what she was told. The stranger then told her to stop on a dark street near chester. The woman robbed my 81 friend of every penny she had (cash only) and said, "now drive to an ATM and get more cash!! When the elderly woman got hysterical, crying and saying, "I don't have any more" the stranger jumped out of the car. My friend sped away before the strange woman could return!! THANK GOD she's still alive......NO THANKS TO SHOPRITE! Tnext day, I went to ShopRite to complain. I found the "supposed store guard" leaning against the wall PLAYING WITH HIS PHONE!! He was still in that same position when I left. WHAT THE HECK IS GOING ON?? GIANT has bare shelves (up until yesterday), forcing us to go to ShopRite in Brookhaven and get CAR-JACKED & ROBBED!!! ShopRite said my 81 yr old friend will have to make a formal complaint. Yeah, right!! She's terrified and probably won't come out of her house...
Read morePrices are usually good. Love the fact that bonus card members get weekly coupons for 1 free item every week!! The hot foods section is a hit or miss and this is why I gave only 3 stars. The hot Chinese food is usually always good. The fresh made pizza however, not so much. It's cold by the time you get to the check-out line and always sloppy looking. I got an upside down pie once and it was disgusting. They must've layered 3 inches of chunky pizza sauce on top of the pie. I've never eaten an upside down pizza with thick chunky sauce, and it's never more than a thin layer just coating the cheese on top. Unfortunately I did not look at the pizza before I left the store or else I would have refused to pay for it. By the time I got it home it was ice cold and everything hardened on the pie. I called the store immediately and spoke to a manager who was apologetic and very willing to rectify the situation. I brought the pizza back to the store so the mngr. could see it and hopefully learn from it. When I handed the pizza over to the manger the bottom of the box was so saturated from excess sauce that the pizza fell through the box. He instantly gave me a refund for the pizza and a gift card to use at a later date. Their hot wings are not so good either, they are either too dry or overly smothered in sauce, and they are usually rubbery from sitting in a hot box...
