I had the pleasure of making my first visit to First State Hobbies yesterday, and was blown away. I’d like to share my opinion from my experience.
In addition to being a really nice shop, their staff was very professional, courteous, friendly, and helpful. I ended up making a purchase they help me with. The two gentlemen I worked with yesterday, Josh and Steve are super nice guys and helped me a lot. I recommend going to see them if you have questions or need help to make a purchasefor the hobby.
First of all, the store is massive. In the front area, they have a great selection of RC cars and trucks of many varieties. On the other side of the front, they have a ton of accessories like wheels, tires, wings, bodies, paints, you name it.
What really Is amazing, is the indoor tracks they built. Any pictures you take cannot do it justice. When you’re inside the space, it’s amazing the scale of these tracks that they have managed to build indoors. They’re beautiful.
They have tracks for multiple types of indoor racing. They have really cool tracks with jumps and turns for 10th scale vehicles, but they also have a drift track that’s to die for. They made a really nice course With P tile and accessorized it to look like a a real race track.
I know I’ll be going back, as I picked up an MST RDX 2.5 drift ready to run yesterday. Apparently, on non-race days, you can come in and use the track for a very reasonable fee.
Aside, purely reviewing, I would like to also say how nice it is to have a hobby shop, with a physical location to go to. I’ve been doing these hobbies for over 40 years, and love going to a physical hobby shop. Sometimes going online is not enough. Sometimes you can’t see, feel, in a really evaluate a product you want to buy. For guys, my age, hobby shops were some of the coolest stores we ever went to as kids. I had that same feeling when I walked into First State Hobbies yesterday.
If you’re looking for a hobby shop that has a great selection of off-road, on road, racing, drifting, cars, and trucks, you have to visit this hobby shop as you will not be...
Read moreBought a brand new truck spent more money than I should have but couldnt help myself after hearing the staffs' opinions, they hooked me up with good price and knowledge before my purchase. Thats just the beginning, after about a week I had trouble with the truck which made me very frustrated as I spend over 1k on it. brought it to them and they "fixed it" and then I had to wait for glue to dry so we didnt get to test drive it at the time, come to find out a couple days later that the problem wasnt fixed. called them and they walked me through the process I needed on the phone to get me back up and running and had it good to a couple days. Then back to the same problems (manufacturing issue nothing the shop did wrong) and eventually they ordered some extra parts for me which I ended up not needing but they threw them in for me for free because Ive had so much trouble with it. Left the truck with them for a couple days to diagnose the problem and looks all fixed now! Incredible staff who do a great job, hope you guys sold a couple more Kraton 8s after those test drives!! Highly recommend for any...
Read moreWas looking for battery upgrade parts. They do not have a working website so we drove half an hour to go in. What made us decide to go was many of the pictures in reviews which showed a very well stocked hobby shop. The pictures also showed they had a banner out front for model boat parts. The photos uploaded that we saw must be of the old store that I just read about in the reviews. When we got to the new store they had a banner out front saying they had pro boat parts… Only to find the one assistant working inside, who said they didn’t. The lady simply took a look and said “it’s not an RC car we can’t help you.” it is not a hobby store, it is a model RC car track, that sells parts, and cars. Two stars because they were open when they said they would be, and the...
