Only one star is appropriate here. The only reason I will give any star is because they have some great deals on 12 packs of Dr. Pepper, and Pepsi. Otherwise, I felt it to be my obligation to inform y'all what happened to me last night while shopping for sodas and a birthday cake at this particular Kroger. Loss Prevention, Asset Control (or whatever they want to call their shoplifting prevention staff) followed us through the store. I know this because of the announcement they blasted over the store intercom. about them needing help in the produce section. We had just spent a lot of time deciding on what overpriced cake we wanted and I attempted to hide the decor in the basket after I picked it. I didn't want to ruin my surprise for my partner. Then we made our way to the produce section. No one else was there. I didn't want to jump to any conclusions about why they would follow me however it became obvious to ALL of us. That they probably thought I was attempting to steal $5 worth of cake decorations. I'm familiar with retail. Having worked retail sales and management my entire working career... I know they're trained to spot a potential shoplifter. Myself, my partner and my 17 year old son spent a lot of time while browsing the store. Everything is so expensive that I'm always looking for the best price. I was teaching my son how to read labels and compare prices. It may appear as suspicious behavior to an ignorant person. However, if I were truly going steal I wouldn't have been there when it was so quiet and I probably would have tried to bring more people with me in order to confuse and distract the clerks. But, it was 10 o'clock in the evening and DEAD! Once at the self checkout. The person monitoring the check out lanes made it blatantly obvious she was telling to make sure everything was scanned. If I scanned my items too fast, the register would ask to have her verify my scans were correct prior to allowing me to continue on to the next item. She was only watching me. After I finished scanning my purchase of over $200, the register made me wait for the clerk again to verify I had 41 items in the basket. Then and only then was my card released from the terminal. I have never been so upset before. They profiled me as a thief. Probably because I can run their registers better than they can. Anyway, shame...
Read more1 starOur last shopping trip we bought home groceries that didn't quite make it into the house. The bags ripped open as they were overloaded and not doubled. As me and my husband were checking out tonight we requested if the bagger could double up. While we were unloading our cart we heard the bagger say more then 5 times to another bagger we wanted our bags doubled. As I started paying attention to them I realized they were not only making a joke about it but they thought it was funny we requested this. I asked the cashier if there was a problem with my request. She realized what the baggers were doing (2 of them) and looked at us apologetically. She knew I was upset as I was paying and my husband was loading the cart. We payed and went to speak to the manager Keith. He didn't seem like he was concerned or was interested in our complaint. Upon getting home this is what we unloaded. 1 bag with a case of cans not in the box (12 cans of dog food) double bagged but ripping. 1 plastic container of cool whip by itself double bagged. 3 glass jars of various sizes and items along with boxes of other items stuffed into a bag double bagged. We got everything double bagged alright but it was thrown into the bags carelessly. The disrespect shown to us was unacceptable and we felt like we were the butt of a joke! We spent well over 100.00 but that is not the point. After complaining to the co manager who seemed like it was more of a bother to him to listen to our complaint than make it right. I will be contacting the Corporate office after the Thanksgiving holiday to file a complaint. We have never been treated so rudely and then to come home to find our groceries in the bag's the way they were was also UNACCEPTABLE! Is it a big deal to make a request to have your bags doubled? I guess it is a big deal and a big joke. But as consumers who spend their hard earned money at this grocery store I think I would rather go the extra mile to HEB to get great customer service instead of being...
Read moreI was told the customer service desk closed at 10pm so I finished running the errands I needed to do while I was in town, I live in madisonville. I got to the store and they said the desk closed at 8pm so I asked for the manager. They said he was on his way and 10 minutes later, he hadn’t made it to the front to talk to me. I don’t appreciate driving all the way over here from College Station to not get done what I needed to do. Then to have the manager not even come up to see what the matter was - very disappointing. His name is Zack. Also, while I was standing there looking at the two lines backed up @ the SELF CHECK OUT (no regular lines were open at all & it was 9:45pm!) the poor kid working the self checkout was also responsible for answering the phone (what was everyone else doing??) so a customer wanted to know if they had a particular item and the kid answering the phone didn’t know so he asked another checker (her name was Madison) about it and she immediately said “Im clocked out…!” Unbelievable - it’s sad to see that no one seemed to care about anything, including their customers at this location. Glad I don’t live here and have to shop at...
