This location was once solid, but after my last visit, I don't see any reason to return. Gamestop has two big metrics they force their associates to meet - pro memberships and game warranties. Because their jobs depend on selling as many as possible, there have been reports of them engaging in some dishonest practices to meet their goals. Yesterday evening I found myself on the receiving end of such an attempt.
I was purchasing some games, and the associate, instead of asking me if I wanted to add warranty protection to them, took it upon himself to add the charges to each game. I would have chalked it up to a simple error, but during payment he clicked out of the transaction summary screen so quickly I was unable to read it. When I realized what had been done and asked, he had a really well practiced response, saying "When these games go back up, you'll have protection."
That made no sense to me, and I replied that my understanding was the warranties were optional. His coworker said, in an irritated tone, "Just refund him." During the refund process, he balled up my receipt and threw it in the trash, giving me instead a refund receipt with no purchase details. When I asked for my purchase receipt, he fumbled with the system unsuccessfully and gave me back my now trashed original receipt. Before I could say a word, the irritable coworker said to me, again in a nasty tone of voice, "Those are clearance games, so you can't return them." Basically I believe they tried to tack on some warranties to make their district management happy and hope I didn't notice. If they did it to me, chances are they have been doing it to a lot of customers.
On an unrelated note, either one or both of the associates has poor personal hygiene, as the smell of body odor in the store was very potent, and it only got worse the closer to...
Read moreOnly reason i will return to this store is to use my coupon i currently have on powerup rewards, the last guy i spoke to on the phone which was yesterday around 1pm, was very rude, unprofessional, and the lack of not taking orders with a debit card even ran as credit, was pure ignorance, he said we can't do anything without you ordering online? Really, ok, just gonna go to target/walmart etc to spend the money i was going to spend here, lost that $100 quickly enough, not to mention this was the only place i bought games/systems, but i can easily go somewhere else, and there is absolutely no telling how much money i have spent here over the past 2.5 years, not to mention before then, I have accumulated over 60k points in that time frame alone, but their prices really aren't any different than anywhere else, and headsets are almost always cheaper somewhere else. When the last store manager left, this place went down the tube, the one guy that drives the older Lincoln is very rude, the new store manager isn't to bad, but has a bit of i'm to busy for you type...
Read moreWent here mostly to kill time and ended up happy I stopped in. I wish I could remember the name of the guy behind the counter because his banter back and forth with me made the visit a good time. He was that level of professional where you trusted that he knew what he was talking about, but he also had a passion and realness to how he delivered the info too. Half the time, game store employees are kinda sad or really dry as it's just a job to them. The guy behind the counter during my visit, though, really gave a hoot, and we cracked jokes and trading gaming tidbits for nearly 30 minutes. The only downside to the visit was they didn't have anything I just needed to buy. But I will be returning,...
