Here’s my experience with the store. I sold some equipment to them, thinking I was going to get cash or a check before I left the store. No, they told me the checks come from their Philly location. I was told I’d have the check in 5-7 days. It’s been a month. They don’t know where my check is. This also happened to a few other people that sold equipment to them the same day I did. I had to contact the store about 5-6 times before they could come up with a “solution”. You’d think they’d be like “hey so sorry about that, come in and just pick up a check/cash that we owe you”. Never once was I told just coming and getting my gear back could be an option. Infact they don’t even know if my equipment is even in the store anymore. But their “solution” was to issue you me another check. So it’ll be a minimum of around 40 days (if the check actually shows up this time) to get paid. I feel like the store could have handled this situation much better than they did. But I won’t be selling anymore gear to Delaware Camera per the bad experience.
I also spoke with a young man that works there that was very cordial (before I called to speak with the manager) he informed me they would do everything they could to fix the situation and call back the next day. But when I spoke to the manager his best solution was to have me another check issued when I already had a major problem getting paid the first time. A good business would have offered a quick solution, as in letting me come pick up a personal check, or just pay me in cash. Or at least give me the option to come get my gear back. But they don’t even know where my gear is. If I was the manager, I would have offered myself some extra compensation for all the time wasted. Not to mention I basically was ripped off on the prices I got for my gear. They’re going to double their money on the sale of my gear easily. And for anyone wondering. They use KEH to determine the prices on used gear. Also, they didn’t even check any of my gear to see if it even worked. Huge red flag there.
Edit: and to the owner that replied to my review. I was offered a check or PayPal payment. Which I don’t have. And it wasn’t just my check that “lost”- it wasn’t just me. I was told by an employee this happened to multiple people on the same day. So how do multiple people get their checks lost in the mail? Another red flag. If you sell to these guys that will rip you off, take the PayPal payment and...
Read moreI was referred to Delaware Camera by my law firm for Canadian citizenship photos. Upon arrival, I mentioned to the team that I had emailed over the photo specifications. Unfortunately, the photographer took one quick photo, adjusted my position, took another, and then informed me it would be ready in 15 minutes—without checking if I was satisfied with the image or comfortable proceeding.
As someone who takes photography seriously, this felt rushed and impersonal, especially given how meaningful citizenship photos can be. This moment marks an important step in my life, and it was disappointing to feel like an afterthought.
That said, when I returned to pick up the photos, I had a much better experience with a different staff member—kind, helpful, and attentive—which actually led me to make a $1,043 camera purchase. I even joked that a complimentary reshoot would’ve been nice under the circumstances.
I understand everyone has off days, but when you’re in the business of capturing significant moments, a little more care and communication can go a long way. I hope this feedback helps improve the customer experience...
Read moreI purchased a camera NikonD5100 a long time ago. Like 9 years ago from the Transit Road store. I was sold a lifetime unlimited warranty for the camera. Unfortunately I smashed the camera and wanted to collect on the warranty I had purchased.
I called the Delaware Ave. store because the Transit store is no longer. I was told, "that was a 3-year warranty." I expressed my dissatisfaction to having been duped so many years ago and was told, "let me see what I can do, it'll take me a few weeks to get back to you."
It has been over a month and I have not heard back.
I called again today and spoke to a lovely woman that told me she would get in touch with the owners. Mark (Manager) just called me back to tell me that the warranty is 3 years and there is nothing he can do for me. He did tell me to have a nice day.
Do be careful with warranties. I was dumb and trusted someone that claimed the warranty was, "forever" and I should have read the fine print.
I would not have left this review had the person that promised to call me back had called me back...
