Rough Experience with Home Depot today…
Went to purchase an inspection camera and they only had one in the store, a Milwaukee M12 Cordless M-Spector kit.
The rep pulled the box out of the cage and I immediately noticed the box looked beat up and thought it was a return. The rep opened it up, and it looked like all the parts were there, in unopened plastic and the screen protector was still on the unit. He said it was probably just one that was shown to customers and wasn’t used. I had doubts and I told him, so he gave me $20 off.
Got the camera home, pulled it out and started inspecting an overhead with it. It worked great.
Went to clean it up and charge the battery but started playing with it and saw that it had a memory card in it. Decided to see if there were any photos.
I started scrolling through the pics and noticed they definitely weren’t taken by me. Then I started seeing some blurry photos that looked like someone took a closeup picture of a closed hand.
Around photo #43 I realized that a heavy set woman used the camera to inspect her pierced, stretch mark laden belly button… then her log cutter… and finally her meat pocket…
I immediately called Home Depot to speak to a manager. One was not available, so I told the service rep, who understandably begin to die laughing. I get why he laughed and don’t really fault him for it but I was frankly disgusted and pissed. Why didn’t they delete the images before putting it back on the shelf to sell? This thing was sitting on my island top, my daughter held it and handed it to me, etc.
Flew back to HD to speak with a manager. Explained the situation to the reps who were completely understanding. The manager was kind of enough to refund the cam and give me a discount on a replacement with free shipping.
I took off 2 stars because the memory card should have been deleted before resale, the rep told me it was not used, and frankly the initial rep wasn’t very friendly helping me pick out the camera.
I added 1 back on because the manager...

On three different occasions, I have purchased something here that turned out to be used and returned. The first was a weedwhacker. Packaged and sold as new, but as soon as you open it, the item was covered in dirt and grass and had been clearly used multiple times before being returned. Had a Home Depot associate taken 20 seconds out of their day to check the return, they would have noticed it.
The second item as a tool chest. I got it delivered, so the damage on the item may have been caused by that. But, it was covered in scratches, dents, and scrapes. "Brand new" item that I was told they probably wouldn't have been able to sell in the store -- they would have just sent it back to the manufacturer. How did it end up being delivered to me, then?
The third item was a bathroom fixture set that had been opened and returned after it had been damaged. There were loose screws and anchors in the box, and the bar for the towel holder had a big dent in it. Again, 20 seconds to open the item and ensure that the person returning it isn't lying or didn't mention that they had an issue before putting it on the shelf to sell as new.
I expect more from Home Depot --...

I passed several that looked right at me with a very unpleasant look and turned their heads. They didn't seem approachable so I continued to walk up and down the aisles. After another 5 minutes or so I saw a guy with a gray polo style shirt and from a distance it appeared to have the orange home depot logo. After I got closer to him I said "excuse me sir, can you tell me....". He never acknowledged that I was speaking and he turned his back towards me. I tried again "excuse me sir, do you work here?" He looked very agitated and I asked if he could point me in the right direction and he did. I looked closer at his shirt and it said asset protection. That being said, if he's going to be out on the floor around customers with a home depot shirt, he needs to be friendly. As far as the rest of the associates on the floor, they made me feel very unwelcomed. I live in Suwanee and I've never had a problem with the Suwanee or Lawrenceville locations. Not sure if the staff may be umcomfortable with people that look different from them. Well, no worries....I will...
