WORST EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE!
Came in on a lunch break. No one was there so that should have been a sign to TURN AROUND! We ordered the Havana Sampler Appetizer. Supposed to come with Mariquitas, maduros, ham croquettes, empanadas, yuka fritas and mozz sticks.
The gentlemen who took our order informed us that there are no Yuka Fritas. We asked if we could sub anything. He didnt offer, We ASKED. We subbed for an empanada. We asked what kind come with the sampler. He said cheese and beef. We asked if we could add a chicken one and he stumbled around and said no. Whatever.
I ordered a side of Moros to come with it too.
30 minutes go by... STILL NO FOOD. He comes and apologizes for it taking so long.. At this point, we may be running late coming back from lunch break.
We FINALLY get the food. The ham croquettes are burnt, no yuka, there IS A CHICKEN EMPANADA,no cheese empanada NO CHEESE STICKS NO Maduros.....
Maduros were going to take an extra 10 mintues to cook and no sign of my Moros.. At this point we asked for a box because we were going to be late.
We get the bill, he charges us for the Maduros... Not Moros. And he didnt even leave a pen for us to sign our name on the receipt.
MADUROS are supposed to come WITH the appetizer. I never received the moros I ordered. We tried to explain that we didnt order that and asked for it to be taken off and he argued with us so we paid and left.
I need to be refunded for this terrible experience...
Read moreThis was a nice quaint little place, and the server was really nice but the food was okay. Ordered the beef empanadas, they were good. We've had better at a place in Lawrenceville, but they were good.
Then I ordered the steak sandwich, with rice and black bean, and my boyfriend had the steak and onions also with rice and black beans. Unfortunately both steaks had no flavor. My sandwich was edible because the flavor came from the swiss cheese, mayo, and lettuce which I also added some of the spicy green sauce we had left over from the empanadas.
What was upsetting is the rice they served was like eating pieces of cardboard because they scrapped the old dried rice from the sides of the pan which was clearly a darker color than some of the soft rice, and thought it was okay to serve. They brought over fresh rice but didn't care that the rest of the food was bad.
The black beans were delicious, but that will not bring us back.
Also forgot to mention upon being sat down the booth seat so badly broken I almos flipped off of it, tried to be a trooper and move to the middle of the booth but it was in such bad shape with hard lumps it was hurting my legs so we had to move. Do you think the server even attempted to move or menu's, drinks while I grabbed my purse, and my boyfriend and I grabbed out jackets. I guess we sjould have known what we were in for from the beginning.
Certainly our first...
Read moreAt first glance, this place is okay. Colorful walls and cute Cuban decor, pictures, music playing over a speaker, TVs, plenty of space, smiling faces. The paint on the wall is sloppily done, there were 5 different styles of tables, the servers (beyond greeting you) looked like they hated their jobs and like they were annoyed at each other.
Then you start looking at the pictures on the wall and see the same red head woman in each picture. You start to watch the TV and realize that it's the same red head woman walking and dancing in Cuba but it's almost all in slow motion. You're almost surrounded by her, wondering who she is and getting hints of narcissism and self absorption.
We waited for our food (and watched as a man with a carry-out waited for almost 45 minutes) and had no choice but to look around and watch this weird movie about the owner and her staff in Cuba.
The menus have pictures and good descriptions of the food with lunch meals depending on the day of the week. The food is okay, just okay: the black beans are flavorless, the lechon asado is bland, the rice is okay.
The atmosphere is weird and if I had a craving for Cuban food I would probably choose a different place instead of...
