I have considered myself an audiophile since 1962, I had dealt with many repair shops and this is the first time I gave anyone a negative review. Before I took my Technics 1500US tape deck to TEKmedia Group I sent an email and asked if they can do a full recap. I received a response from Jasmine, she said that they can do a full recap and also refurbish the tape deck. I took them the deck with a list of what I wanted done, I received a quote, a recap was not included, I told Jasmine the main reason I took the tape deck to then for service was because she told me they can do a full recap. She responded and said she would talk to her technician and get back to me. She emailed a quote to do the recap. I told her that was OK and to do it, a couple days later I received another email from her that said her service advisor (Andy) said he would do the recap and include it in the original quote. I thought that was great and I thanked her. A couple days later I received another email saying my deck was complete and ready to be picked up, but no mention of the recap. I emailed Jasmine and asked if the deck was recapped, she responded again and said the technician told her it wasn’t necessary. I said I want the deck recapped and gave her the dates and the information that was on the emails she sent saying she would do the recap and told her I want to talk to the technician, I went to the shop, the technician came out, he did not speak English. They had to get me a translator. The translator told me the technician said it wasn’t necessary to do the recap and he did not want to do it. Jasmine was standing there with us, I told her that she knows the only reason I took her my take deck was because she told me they can do a full recap, she said if I want it done, they will do it, so I left. I received an another email from Jasmine saying her supervisor, (Andy) was going to call me. He called and wanted to talk me out of the recap and told me he would give me a three year warranty on the original capacitors if I do not have the recap done and that nobody makes capacitors as good as the ones they made when they built this tape deck, (So he would replace a couple two and three dollar capacitors and I would most likely end up paying him $400 or $500 to replace them) would that be a fair trade for a full recap. After that I did not trust them and just wanted to pick up to take deck with everything else that they say was done. Which I did. I also asked in a few emails that I would like Jasmine to list everything that was performed on the tape deck. She completely ignored that and did not list anything I requested A week later I had some friends over to make a recording, plugged in two microphones and the right channel volume control for the microphone was scratchy. I emailed Jasmine and mentioned it, but she never responded. That’s where I’m at right now. Being I have all the emails and documented phone conversations saying what they were going to do. I am going to talk to someone to see how I can get them to stand behind what they...
Read moreTake your camera/film lenses elsewhere for repair. Tekmedia Group is horrendous to deal with and you will receive your gear back broken or worse unsalvageable.
They had my Canon 200MM f/1.8 for over a year to repair the auto focus issue. I was constantly lied to about when the repair would be completed. When I finally received the lens back, I realized why they lied and stalled. Their tech had completely destroyed the lens and autofocus mechanism. When I removed the lens from it's case, it essentially fell apart. Screws were missing or not screwed in fully. Closer examination of the internal parts of the lense revealed that chunks of metal were cut from inside the lens as seen in the photos. The lens could not be focused manually like it was prior to their "repair". Now a $3,000 legacy Canon L lens has been reduced to a paperweight.
Please use any other repair service than them.
1/26/25 - In response to their recent post. The lens functioned prior to their "repair". The lens just missed autofocus, but manual focus worked. I was told they had the part to repair the lens repeatedly. I was also told that they were just working on getting the autofocus to be more precise. Once they failed to reach the final deadline after a year and a half, the tech stated they will remove the part before shipping it back. I have the PDF of the back and forth, so don't lie about this situation. When I received the lens back, the body of the lens separated from glass element upon taking it out of the box. Screws were missing and/or not fully tightened. The manual focus did not work at all. Autofocus did not work at all. Closer inspection revealed the taping of wires back to previously soldered points. Chunks of metal cut out of the internal focusing mechanism. Due to their abhorrent attempt at a "repair" the lens isn't salvageable at all.
Do NOT take any camera equipment or electronics to them for repair. They will LIE about their ability to repair your equipment and DESTROY it. You're better off attempting the repair yourself than...
Read moreDO NOT USE THIS COMPANY They’re COMPLETELY INCOMPETENT. Not only did I drive a total of 13 hours taking my equipment to this place TWICE, they charged me $804. 74 they LIED and said they repaired my Beogram 8002. They damaged the dust cover by placing something on top of it that scratched it and caused some type of circular patterns permanently damaging it. They reattached it and didn’t bother to realigning it properly. They said they repaired the main board and others. They did NOT. They did NOT test my equipment before I left. I assumed because they’re an alleged authorized repair facility that that wouldn’t be necessary. The manager of the place literally right before I walked out the door with my turntable said he tightened the transport screws. HE DID NOT!!! I drove 2 1/2 hours to the desert on at times were uneven/unpaved roads only to discover not a single transport screw had been tightened. AFTER being told by the manager that he had done so. The absolute COMPLETE level of incompetence is astounding. They LIED to American Express and said they tried to reach out to me. They absolutely DID NOT!!! I had to take my turntable to a completely different Bang & Olufsen authorized repair facility, where I was told my turntable was UNREPAIRABLE. IF Tek Media Group had repaired my equipment, as they claimed they had, I would not have had to take my turntable to a different facility and be told it couldn’t be repaired. TEK MEDIA GROUP ARE INCOMPETENT. THEY ARE LIARS. THEY CANNOT AND SHOULD NOT BE TRUSTED WITH YOUR EQUIPMENT. BANG & OLUFSEN OR ANY OTHER EQUIPMENT. THEY’RE LIARS AND COMPLETE SHAM ARTISTS!!!! THEY ARE NOT TO BE TRUSTED!!! 💯
@Tek Media Group, so what you’re saying is you want me to trust you AGAIN and drive that distance AGAIN, with my turntable again, after you’ve already charged me $804.74 and instead of repairing my equipment, it was damaged and went UNrepaired? Because I can tell you now, my paying you again, OR another $804.74 is NOT...
