AREA 52 GUN & PAWN — Local services in Burlington

Area 52 and their staff were very responsive to my email and getting FFL transfer information to the suppressor manufacturer of my choice. However, upon deliverance of the NFA items, even though they were paid for they would not let me give one of those suppressors and have it registered under another person‘s name. I spent over two hours in their store while they contacted the ATF and their “boss” . The ATF who is the governing authority on such items and told them that they were allowed to register one of those suppressors in another person‘s name because they were not actually assigned to anyone yet via the form 4 that the ATF uses. They did not abide by the ATF ruling and instead made me register all three under my name and purchase a trust in order to do so. They were very uneducated about the ATF rules regarding suppressors and NFA items. Their ability to navigate their SilencerShop kiosk was very frustrating.

After all that was said and done, we were able to properly register all three NFA items. However they were not transparent in their transfer fee. So, when I came to pick them up once they were released from the ATF they charged me the most expensive fee I have ever seen any dealer ever request. A transfer fee of $125.99 per item was charged plus tax, which tax would not apply to this type of transfer because this is a service just like doing a firearm transfer. I tried to clarify that this was a service and it was a non-taxable charge yet they would not budge and still charged me $125.99 per NFA item plus tax. I would not recommend going to Area 52 and having them do any type of NFA transfer of any type regardless how easy they make a sound having a kiosk. They are very uneducated about the ATF rules and are uncomfortable with making decisions even though they spoke to the ATF directly.

I also witnessed multiple individus in those two hours that I was there either reeking of marijuana or wearing ankle monitors. They were in pursuit of buying weapons and the employees at the time seemed unaware of their current disposition (potential felon or under the influence).

Great shop with down to eart, knowledgable staff. I drive for a living and consequently have the opportunity to visit many different "local gun stores". This has allowed me to experience everything from the big box stores that don't have time to talk to you, to the mom and pop shops selling from the back of the service station. Then I walked into Area 52 and boy was I surprised. I honestly expected to meet a couple of millennial hipsters who had decided to open a gun shop. Instead I was greeted by knowledgeable staff who made sure anything I wanted to check out was made available to me. Not only will you find the hot new items in the case, you can drift over to the military wall and gaze at the history of weapons that they constantly have coming through the doors. After you've parused the selections to your hearts content, if you haven't found what you are looking for you can just have the guys order it and it'll arrive pronto and st the very best price. While you wait go ahead and pick up your second choice, you won't be disappointed. While I wish this was a paid advertisement, alas I am just another highly satisfied customer.
